Deprecating ANY_PACKAGE.
This change consists of multiple changes: Core: - Deprecation of ANY_PACKAGE macro. Added ANY_PACKAGE_DEPRECATED macro which can still be used for backwards compatibility purposes (only used in CoreUObject) - Deprecation of StaticFindObjectFast* functions that take bAnyPackage parameter - Added UStruct::GetStructPathName function that returns FTopLevelAssetPath representing the path name (package + object FName, super quick compared to UObject::GetPathName) + wrapper UClass::GetClassPathName to make it look better when used with UClasses - Added (Static)FindFirstObject* functions that find a first object given its Name (no Outer). These functions are used in places I consider valid to do global UObject (UClass) lookups like parsing command line parameters / checking for unique object names - Added static UClass::TryFindType function which serves a similar purpose as FindFirstObject however it's going to throw a warning (with a callstack / maybe ensure in the future?) if short class name is provided. This function is used in places that used to use short class names but now should have been converted to use path names to catch any potential regressions and or edge cases I missed. - Added static UClass::TryConvertShortNameToPathName utility function - Added static UClass::TryFixShortClassNameExportPath utility function - Object text export paths will now also include class path (Texture2D'/Game/Textures/Grass.Grass' -> /Script/Engine.Texture2D'/Game/Textures/Grass.Grass') - All places that manually generated object export paths for objects will now use FObjectPropertyBase::GetExportPath - Added a new startup test that checks for short type names in UClass/FProperty MetaData values AssetRegistry: - Deprecated any member variables (FAssetData / FARFilter) or functions that use FNames to represent class names and replaced them with FTopLevelAssetPath - Added new member variables and new function overloads that use FTopLevelAssetPath to represent class names - This also applies to a few other modules' APIs to match AssetRegistry changes Everything else: - Updated code that used ANY_PACKAGE (depending on the use case) to use FindObject(nullptr, PathToObject), UClass::TryFindType (used when path name is expected, warns if it's a short name) or FindFirstObject (usually for finding types based on user input but there's been a few legitimate use cases not related to user input) - Updated code that used AssetRegistry API to use FTopLevelAssetPaths and USomeClass::StaticClass()->GetClassPathName() instead of GetFName() - Updated meta data and hardcoded FindObject(ANY_PACKAGE, "EEnumNameOrClassName") calls to use path names #jira UE-99463 #rb many.people [FYI] Marcus.Wassmer #preflight 629248ec2256738f75de9b32 #codereviewnumbers 20320742, 20320791, 20320799, 20320756, 20320809, 20320830, 20320840, 20320846, 20320851, 20320863, 20320780, 20320765, 20320876, 20320786 #ROBOMERGE-OWNER: robert.manuszewski #ROBOMERGE-AUTHOR: robert.manuszewski #ROBOMERGE-SOURCE: CL 20430220 via CL 20433854 via CL 20435474 via CL 20435484 #ROBOMERGE-BOT: UE5 (Release-Engine-Staging -> Main) (v949-20362246) [CL 20448496 by robert manuszewski in ue5-main branch] |

Several improvements to culture switching and LocRes files
- LocRes files now de-duplicate translations when they're generated, which can result in smaller LocRes files.
- The localization compilation step now produces a LocNat file, which contains meta-data specifying the native culture during compile, and where the native LocRes file can be found.
- Changing cultures now loads the native localization data prior to loading the non-native translations to ensure that translations are always applied to a consistent base.
- The "leet" culture (available when localization testing is enabled) is now always applied against the native translation, and correctly restores non-translated text when switching away from the "leet" culture.
- "-culture=leet" now works correctly on the command line ("-leet" also works).
- LoadLocalizationResourcesForCulture is no longer called multiple times during initialization of the text localization manager.
- General clean-up of localization code to favor using LocKeyFuncs with maps and sets, rather than rolling their own key funcs.

Reduced the number of allocations that happen when rebuilding text
This change removes the wasteful FTextHistory::ToText function and replaces it with two more specialized functions; FTextHistory::BuildLocalizedDisplayString and FTextHistory::BuildInvariantDisplayString.
These new functions return an FString (for the display string), rather than an FText (which was simply mined for its display string). Simply avoiding going via an FText saves at least two allocations per-rebuild.
Changes:
- Removed FTextHistory::ToText and replaced it with FTextHistory::BuildLocalizedDisplayString and FTextHistory::BuildInvariantDisplayString.
- Moved the localization aware chronological and transformation implementations into FTextChronoFormatter and FTextTransformer. These return an FString which avoids an FText allocation during rebuild, and is simply passed into an FText during normal FText usage.
- Moved FText::AsDate, FText::AsDateTime, FText::AsTime, FText::ToUpper, and FText::ToLower into Text.cpp, and these now use FTextChronoFormatter and FTextTransformer from the common text implementation.
- Moved FText::AsTimespan into Text.cpp. This had no dependency on ICU, so this is now the common text implementation.
- Added FTextFormatter::FormatStr variants. FTextFormatter::Format calls these FTextFormatter::FormatStr versions internally, and they're also used during text rebuilding (saving not only an FText allocation, but also a container copy).
- Removed FText::CreateNumericalText and FText::CreateChronologicalText as they were mostly superfluous.
- General update from using MakeShareable to MakeShared (saving 1 allocation).
- General clean-up of L10N/I18N class friendship.

#lockdown Nick.Penwarden #rb none ========================== MAJOR FEATURES + CHANGES ========================== Change 3209340 on 2016/11/23 by Ben.Marsh Convert UE4 codebase to an "include what you use" model - where every header just includes the dependencies it needs, rather than every source file including large monolithic headers like Engine.h and UnrealEd.h. Measured full rebuild times around 2x faster using XGE on Windows, and improvements of 25% or more for incremental builds and full rebuilds on most other platforms. * Every header now includes everything it needs to compile. * There's a CoreMinimal.h header that gets you a set of ubiquitous types from Core (eg. FString, FName, TArray, FVector, etc...). Most headers now include this first. * There's a CoreTypes.h header that sets up primitive UE4 types and build macros (int32, PLATFORM_WIN64, etc...). All headers in Core include this first, as does CoreMinimal.h. * Every .cpp file includes its matching .h file first. * This helps validate that each header is including everything it needs to compile. * No engine code includes a monolithic header such as Engine.h or UnrealEd.h any more. * You will get a warning if you try to include one of these from the engine. They still exist for compatibility with game projects and do not produce warnings when included there. * There have only been minor changes to our internal games down to accommodate these changes. The intent is for this to be as seamless as possible. * No engine code explicitly includes a precompiled header any more. * We still use PCHs, but they're force-included on the compiler command line by UnrealBuildTool instead. This lets us tune what they contain without breaking any existing include dependencies. * PCHs are generated by a tool to get a statistical amount of coverage for the source files using it, and I've seeded the new shared PCHs to contain any header included by > 15% of source files. Tool used to generate this transform is at Engine\Source\Programs\IncludeTool. [CL 3209342 by Ben Marsh in Main branch] |

Remaking latest build scripts from //UE4/Main @ 2900980.
Change 2903560 on 2016/03/10 by Ben.Marsh
Initial version of BuildGraph scripts - used to create build processes in UE4 which can be run locally or in parallel across a build farm (assuming synchronization and resource allocation implemented by a separate system). Intended to supersede GUBP.
Build graphs are declared using an XML script using syntax similar to MSBuild, ANT or NAnt, and consist of the following components:
* Tasks: Building blocks which can be executed as part of the build process. Many predefined tasks are provided (<Cook>, <Compile>, <Copy>, <Stage>, <Log>, <PakFile>, etc...), and additional tasks may be added be declaring classes derived from AutomationTool.CustomTask in other UAT modules.
* Nodes: A named sequence of tasks which is executed to produce outputs. Nodes may have input dependencies on other nodes before they can be executed. Declared with the <Node> element in scripts.
* Agent Groups: A set of nodes nodes which is executed on the same machine if running as part of a build system. Has no effect when building locally. Declared with the <Group> element in scripts.
* Triggers: Container for groups which should only be executed when explicitly triggered (using the -Trigger=<Name> or -SkipTriggers command line argument). Declared with the <Trigger> element in scripts.
* Notifiers: Specifies email recipients for failures in one or more nodes, whether they should receive notifications on warnings, and so on.
Properties can be passed in to a script on the command line, or set procedurally with the <Property Name="Foo" Value="Bar"/> syntax. Properties referenced with the $(Property Name) notation are valid within all strings, and will be expanded as macros when the script is read. If a property name is not set explicitly, it defaults to the contents of an environment variable with the same name.
Local properties, which only affect the scope of the containing XML element (node, group, etc...) are declared with the <Local Name="Foo" Value="Bar"/> element, and will override a similarly named global property for the local property's scope.
Any elements can be conditionally defined via the "If" attribute, and are largely identical to MSBuild conditions. Literals in conditions may be quoted with single (') or double (") quotes, or an unquoted sequence of letters, digits and underscore characters. All literals are considered identical regardless of how they are declared, and are considered case-insensitive for comparisons (so true equals 'True', equals "TRUE"). Available operators are "==", "!=", "And", "Or", "!", "(...)", "Exists(...)" and "HasTrailingSlash(...)". A full grammar is written up in Condition.cs.
File manipulation is done using wildcards and tags. Any attribute that accepts a list of files may consist of: a Perforce-style wildcard (matching any number of "...", "*" and "?" patterns in any location), a full path name, or a reference to a tagged collection of files, denoted by prefixing with a '#' character. Files may be added to a tag set using the <Tag> Task, which also allows performing set union/difference style operations. Each node can declare multiple outputs in the form of a list of named tags, which other nodes can then depend on.
Build graphs may be executed in parallel as part build system. To do so, the initial graph configuration is generated by running with the -Export=<Filename> argument (producing a JSON file listing the nodes and dependencies to execute). Each participating agent should be synced to the same changelist, and UAT should be re-run with the appropriate -Node=<Name> argument. Outputs from different nodes are transferred between agents via shared storage, typically a network share, the path to which can be specified on the command line using the -SharedStorageDir=<Path> argument. Note that the allocation of machines, and coordination between them, is assumed to be managed by an external system.
A schema for the known set of tasks can be generated by running UAT with the "-Schema=<FileName>" option. Generating a schema and referencing it from a BuildGraph script allows Visual Studio to validate and auto-complete elements as you type.
