* stk3310 fixes from Hartmut's review that came in post merge
- fix direction of proximity inline with recent documentation
clarification.
- fix missing REGMAP_I2C dependency
- rework the error handling for raw readings to fix an failure to power
down in the event of a raw reading failing.
- fix a bug in the compensation code which was toggling an extra bit in the
register.
* mmc35240 - reported samplign frequencies were wrong.
* ltr501 fixes
- fix a case of returning the return value of a regmap_read instead of
the value read.
- fix missing regmap dependency
* sx9500 - fix missing default values for ret in a couple of places to handle
the case of no enabled channels.
* tmp006 - check that writes to info_mask elements are actually to writable
ones. Otherwise, writing to any of them will change the sampling frequency.
Jonathan writes:
First set of IIO fixes for the 4.2 cycle.
* Fix a regression in hid sensors suspend time as a result of adding runtime
pm. The normal flow of waking up devices in order to go into suspend
(given the devices are normally suspended when not reading) to a regression
in suspend time on some laptops (reports of an additional 8 seconds).
Fix this by checking to see if a user action resulting in the wake up, and
make it a null operation if it didn't. Note that for hid sensors, there is
nothing useful to be done when moving into a full suspend from a runtime
suspend so they might as well be left alone.
* rochip_saradc: fix some missing MODULE_* data including the licence so that
the driver does not taint the kernel incorrectly and can build as a module.
* twl4030 - mark irq as oneshot as it always should have been.
* inv-mpu - write formats for attributes not specified, leading to miss
interpretation of the gyro scale channel when written.
* Proximity ABI clarification. This had snuck through as a mess. Some
drivers thought proximity went in one direction, some the other. We went
with the most common option, documented it and fixed up the drivers going
the other way. Fix for sx9500 included in this set.
* ad624r - fix a wrong shift in the output data.
* at91_adc - remove a false limit on the value of the STARTUP register
applied by too small a type for the device tree parameter.
* cm3323 - clear the bits when setting the integration time (otherwise
we can only ever set more bits in the relevant field).
* bmc150-accel - multiple triggers are registered, but on error were not being
unwound in the opposite order leading to removal of triggers that had not
yet successfully been registered (count down instead of up when unwinding).
* tcs3414 - ensure right part of val / val2 pair read so that the integration
time is not always 0.
* cc10001_adc - bug in kconfig dependency. Use of OR when AND was intended.

Third round of new IIO drivers, cleanups and functionality for the 4.2 cycle.
Given Linus announced a 4.8rc coming up, hopefully time for one more
lot of IIO patches this cycle. Some of these are actually
improvements / fixes for patches earlier in the cycle.
New device support
* st_accel driver - support devices with 8 bit channels.
Cleanup
* A general cleanup of the iio tools under /tools/ from Hartmut.
I'm more than a little embarassed by how bad some of these were! Are well,
much more refined and less bug prone now.
These cover lots of stuff like unhandled error returns, memory leaks as
well as general refactoring to tidy the code up.
* iio_simple_dummy - fix memory leaks in the init functions, drop some
pointless error returns from functions that never generate errors and
make the module parameter explicitly unsigned.
* More buffer handling reworks from Lars-Peter, this time targetting hardware
buffers (a little used corner that looks likely to get more use in the near
future). Specifically:
- Always compute the masklength as inkernel buffer users may need it.
- Add a means of labeling which buffer modes a given buffer implementation
supports.
- In the case of hardware buffers, require strict scan matching rather than
matching to a superset. Currently the demux is bypassed by these drivers
(this may well not change for efficiency reasons) so allowing a superset
of channels to be selected would otherwise lead to more data than requested
confusing userspace.
Driver funcationality improvments
* mmc35240 - adds a compensation to the raw values as borrowed form Memsic's
own input driver.
* mma8452
- event support
- event debouncing
- high pass filter configuration
- triggers
* vf610 - allow conversion mode to be adjusted
Fixlets
* mmc35240
- Off by one error that by coincidence had no real effect.
- i2c_device_name should be lowercase.
- Lack of null terminator at end of attributes array.
- Avoid computing the fractional part of the magnetic field by moving
the scaling into userspace where floating point is available to simplify
the maths.
- Use a smaller sleep before assuming the measurement is done. This is
safe and improves the possible polling rate.
- Fix sensitivity on z-axis - datasheet disagrees with Memsic's releasedd
code and the value used in the code seems to be correct.
* stk3310 - make a local variable signed to ensure error handling works.
* twl4030
- fix calculation of the temperature sense current - bug unlikely
to have ever been noticed as the difference is small.
- Fix errors in descriptions.

Update extcon for v4.2
This patchset include the huge update of extcon core and add the new one extcon
driver and fix minor isseu of extcon drivers.
Detailed description for patchset:
1. Update the extcon core.
- Modify the extcon device name on sysfs from device name name to 'extcon[X]'
as following because if same extcon device are included in H/W development board,
the one of the two device driver might be failed on the probe().
: /sys/class/extcon/[device name] -> /sys/class/extcon/extcon[X]
- Use the unique id for external connectors instead of legacy string name.
Previously, extcon used the string name to identify the type of external
connectors. This way have the many potential issues. So, extcon core define the
unique id for each external connectors as following:
enum extcon {
EXTCON_NONE = 0x0,
/* USB external connector */
EXTCON_USB = 0x1,
EXTCON_USB_HOST = 0x2,
/* Charger external connector */
EXTCON_TA = 0x10,
EXTCON_FAST_CHARGER = 0x11,
EXTCON_SLOW_CHARGER = 0x12,
EXTCON_CHARGE_DOWNSTREAM = 0x13,
/* Audio and video external connector */
EXTCON_LINE_IN = 0x20,
EXTCON_LINE_OUT = 0x21,
EXTCON_MICROPHONE = 0x22,
EXTCON_HEADPHONE = 0x23,
...
};
- Update tye prototype of extcon_register_notifier() by using the unique id
(enum extcon) of external connectors.
- Add extcon_get_edev_name() API to get the name of extcon device on extcon
client driver because the name is included in 'struct extcon_dev' and 'struct
extcon_dev' should be handled in only drivers/extcon directory. So. if extcon
client need the name of extcon device, they could use this function.
- Unify the jig/dock and MHL-TA cable name on extcon driver.
: JIG-{USB-ON|USB-OFF|UART-ON|UART-OFF} -> JIG
: Dock-{Smart|Desk|Audio|Card} -> DOCK
: MHL-TA -> TA
- Use the capital letter for the name of all external connectors.
- Remove the optional print_name() function pointer from struct extcon_dev to
maintain the consistent name of extcon device.
2. Add the new extcon-axp288.c extcon driver.
- The extcon-axp288.c driver support for AXP288 PMIC which has the BC1.2
charger detection capability. So this extcon driver can detect the
EXTCON_SLOW_CHARGER, EXTCON_CHARGE_DOWNSTREAM and EXTCON_FAST_CHARGER.
3. Update the extcon-arizona.c driver.
- Add support for selective detection mode when headphone detection.
- Apply HP clamps for WM8280
4. Clean-up the extcon core and drivers.
- Add manufactor information of each extcon device.
- Fix checkpatch warning and minor coding style on extcon.c.c
- Fix build break if GPIOLIB is not enabled on extcon-usb-gpiio.c.
- Set the direction of gpio when calling devm_gpiod_get() on extcon-usb-gpio.c

The usual mixed bag of fixes for IIO in the 4.1 cycle.
Second version of this pull request as a small fix to a fix turned
up before Greg pulled it for a cc10001 patch near the top of the tree.
One core fix
* Set updated for a iio kfifo was incorrectly set to false during a failed
update, resulting in atttempts to repeat the failed operation appearing
to succeed.
This time I've decided to list the driver fixes in alphabetical order rather
than 'randomly'.
* axp288_adc - a recent change added a check for valid info masks when
reading channels from consumer drivers.
* bmp280 - temperature compensation was failing to read the tfine value, hence
causing a temperature of 0 to always be returned and incorrect presure
measurements.
* cc10001 - Fix channel number mapping when some channels are reserved for
remote CPUs. Fix an issue with the use of the power-up/power-down register
(basically wrong polarity). Fix an issue due to the missinterpretting the
return value from regulator_get_voltage. Add a delay before the start bit
as recommended for the hardware to avoid data corruption.
* hid pressure - fix channel spec of modfiied, but no modifier (which makes no
sense!)
* hid proximity - fix channel spec of modified, but no modifier (which makes
no sense!). Fix a memory leak in the probe function.
* mcp320x - occasional incorrect readings on dma using spi busses due to
cacheline corruption. Fixed by forcing ___cacheline_aligned for the buffers.
* mma9551 - buffer overrun fix (miss specified maximum length of buffers)
* mma9553 - endian fix on status message. Add an enable element for activity
channel. Input checking for activity period to avoid rather unpredictable
results.
* spmi-vadc - fix an overflow in the output value normalization seen on some
boards.
* st-snesors - oops due to use of a mutex that is not yet initialized during
probe.
* xilinx adc - Some wrong register addresses, a wrong address for vccaux
channel, incorrect scale on VREFP and incorrect sign on VREFN.

the gpio interrupt pin to be more useful, trivial return path simplification,
trivial formatting fixes.

there is no actual bug as the condition being tested is always true
(with current devices).
* ltr501 - add regmap support to get caching etc for later patches,
fix a parameter sanity check that always fails (bug introduced
earlier in this series), ACPI enumeration support,
interrupt rate control support, interrupt support in general and
integration time control support, code alignment cleanups.

add emissivity setting, add device tree binding documentation,
fix a duplicate const warning.
* ti_am335x_adc - refactor the DT parsing into a separate function.

USB-serial updates for v4.1-rc1
Fix up the f81232 driver, which up to this point has mostly been a
placeholder without a proper implementation.
Included is also a minor clean up of ch341.

If something went wrong with creating a debugfs file/symlink/directory,
that value could be passed down into debugfs again as a parent dentry.
To make caller code simpler, just error out if this happens, and don't
crash the kernel.

Update extcon for v4.1
This patchset include two new extcon driver and fix minor issue of extcon
driver.
Detailed description for patchset:
1. new extcon-max77843.c and extcon-usb-gpio.c extcon driver
- extcon-max77843.c driver support the MAXIM MAX77843 MUIC (Micor-USB Interface
Controller) device which handles the various external connectors such as TA/USB
/USB-HOST/JIG and so on.
- extcon-usb-gpio.c driver support the USB and USB-HOST cable detection by
using the GPIO pin which is connected to USB ID pin. This GPIO pin updates the
USB cable states.
2. Rename the filename of extcon core driver and add missing locking mechanism
- Rename the previous extcon-class driver.c as extcon.c because '-class'
postfix is not necessary word.
- extcon core driver (extcon.c) used the raw_notifier_chain. It must be
protected by locking mechanism to avoid the list changing while
extcon_update_state() is executed.
3. Fix minor issue of extcon drviers
- Fix cable name by using the capital letter instead of small letter on
extcon-max77693.c driver.
- Clean-up code of extcon-arizona.c to detect headphone cable.
- Fix the wrong return type and variable type on extcon-max77843.c.
- Fix the checkpatch warning of all extcon drivers.

IIO fixes for 4.0 set 4
A couple more IIO fixes.
* Fix check for HAS_IOMEM in the cc100001_adc driver to avoid build errors.
Rather curiously it was ORed with Regulator and clock support.
* vf610 driver was trying to use an ADC clock outside the possible
spec on some boards. The driver assumed a fixed clock speed previously
across all boards, but that is not true. This fix ensures that the
reported frequency is correct on all boards.
* The adis imu common code directly set the current trigger to the
driver supplied one. Unfortunately this didn't increase the use count
leading to a double free via a particular path of changing the trigger
then removing the driver.
Jonathan writes:
Second set of new devices, functionality and cleanup for IIO in the 4.1 cycle.
New Functionality
* Watermark logic for buffers. Allows for blocking reads to block until
their requested amount is available - previously they only blocked until
a single scan of data was available. Also allows for polling for a
watermark amount of data to be available. This feature was first proposed
some time ago to good responses, but not taken further by the original author
Octavian has picked up the gauntlet and taken it through
to merging (along with the hardware fifo support that follows).
* New approach to hardware fifo handling - in particular handling the
interaction of a hardware fifo feeding into a software fifo and their
watershed events. We don't have every possible case well covered yet,
but this is certainly a good, flexible starting point. This will replace
the previous approach used in ancient drivers (sca3000) where we just
exposed the hardware buffer directly to userspace. Very few pieces of
hardware have sufficiently long buffers for that to be an adequate solution.
* bmc150_accel - hardware fifo support.
* mlx90614 - support dual IR sensor devices + some refactoring to clean up the
code and allow some other functionality currently under review.
* L3GD20H gyroscope support added to the st_gyro driver.
* lis3lv02d accelerometer added to the st_gyro driver. Note this part is
also supported by the older lis3 driver under misc. A lengthy discussion
took place and concluded that holding parts out on the basis that whole
driver would be subsumed into this one was counter productive. Better
to add part support and add additional features as people need them.
Basically there was not advantage in not merging the support.
* max517 driver gains support for MAX520 and MAX521 DACs.
Documentation
* 3.20 -> 4.0 renaming for recent docs. Whilst technically a fix, I think
people will cope until the next merge merge window.
* An ABI typo hat -> What: More ABIs should have hats.
* Document in_rot_offset, illuminance_raw and illuminance_scale.
Cleanups
* Fix a scale extraction bug in generic_buffer.c example.
* Constify a load of device tree related structures.
We only care if anything other than the lower 3 bits of the tty has
changed, so just check that way, which makes it a bit faster, and more
obvious what is going on. Also, document this for future developers to
understand why we did this.

3rd set of IIO fixes for the 4.0 cycle.
* A double free occured on an error path in due to an event registration issue.
The fix is the minimal change rather than possibly reworking this area of
the core to give a more elegant solution (future work).
* A number of drivers were directly accessing indio_dev->buffer->scan_mask
to identify the currently enabled channel set. This may not be correct
if we have additional clients on the push interface. The correct option
is indio_dev->active_scan_mask. This is fixed.
* bmc150 had incorrectly specified sampling frequency (a datasheet confusion
as they are specified in terms of bandwith - e.g. half the sampling
frequency).
* hmc5843 wasn't setting it's name and hence the name attribute was
returning an empty string.
* inv_mpu6050 wasn't clearing the locally held timestamp buffer when the
hardware fifo was reset. Also an inconsistency existed in the interface
for the scale of the channels. Magic numbers were written but real ones
were used for the reads. Now uses real numbers (i.e. not array indexes)
for both.
* fix a missing dependency in the dummy driver. Previously shielded from
the autobuilders by an earlier build error.

First set of new drivers, cleanups and functionality for IIO in the 4.1 cycle.
New drivers
* CM3323 color sensor.
* MS5611 pressure and temperature sensor.
New functionality
* mup6050 - create mux clients for devices described via ACPI. The reasoning
and approach taken in this patch are complex. Basically there is no
otherway of finding out what is there than by some esoteric look ups in
the ACPI data.
* cm3232 - PM support
* itg3200 - suspend/resume support
* mcp320x - add more ADCs to the kconfig to reflect what the driver supports
(this patch and the bindings got left behind when the support was added
a while back).
Docs / utils
* ti-adc128s052 - DT bindings.
* mcp3422 - DT bindings.
* mcp320x - DT bindings
* ABI docs for event threshold scale attributes, in_magn_offset, proximity
scan_element and thresh falling/rising values for accelerometers. All
elements long in use that have slipped by being explicitly documented.
* Tidy up the tools previously in drivers/staging/iio/Documentation and move
them out to /tools/iio. Yet another move that should have happened long ago.
This time Roberta Dobrescu did the leg work. Thanks!
Core Cleanups
* Export userspace IIO headers. We should have done the appropriate header
splitting a long time ago. Thanks to Daniel for sorting this out.
* Refactor the registring of attributes for buffers to move all non-custom
ones to a vector allowing easier additions to the current set in the future.
Driver Cleanups
* gpiod related cleanups. Make use of the additional parameter to specify
initial direciton to avoid extra code.
* bmc150 - Various refactorings to reduce code repitition and prepare for
hardware buffer support. Some of these cleanups are good even
without the new functionality.
* kmx61 - direct use of index to an array avoiding a structure element which
was always the index to an element in an array of that structure.
* vf610 - avoid incorrect type for return from wait_for_completion_timeout.
* gp2ap020a00f - use put_unaligned_le32 for slight code simplification.
* ade7754 - improve error handling including suppressing some build warnings.
* ade7759 - improve error handling including suppressing some build warnings.
* hmc5843 - Long line and indentation fixes. Also some constifying of various
constant data.
* ade7854 - 80+ character line splitting.
* ad2s1210 - fix wrong printf format string.
* mxs-lradc - fix wrong printf format string.
* ade7954-i2c - code alignment fixes and other trivial but worthwhile bits.
* periodic rtc trigger - make the frequency type an unsigned int as it
is always treated as such.
* jsa1212 - constify struct regmap_config as it is constant.
* ad7793 - typo in the MODULE_DESCRIPTION
* mma9551 - check gpiod_to_irq errors. Note that this doesn't actually cause
any trouble but is worth tidying up as obviously incorrect.
* mlx90614 - refactor the register symbols to make it clear which reads are to
RAM not PROM.
