As reported by Ben Greer and Froncois Romieu. The code path in
the netif_carrier code leads it to try and disable
a late workqueue to reenable it immediately
netif_carrier_on
-> linkwatch_fire_event
-> linkwatch_schedule_work
-> cancel_delayed_work
-> del_timer_sync
If __cancel_delayed_work is used instead then there is no
problem of waiting for running linkwatch_event.
There is a race between linkwatch_event running re-scheduling
but it is harmless to schedule an extra scan of the linkwatch queue.

A bridge topology with three systems:
+------+ +------+
| A(2) |--| B(1) |
+------+ +------+
\ /
+------+
| C(3) |
+------+
What is supposed to happen:
* bridge with the lowest ID is elected root (for example: B)
* C detects that A->C is higher cost path and puts in blocking state
What happens. Bridge with lowest id (B) is elected correctly as
root and things start out fine initially. But then config BPDU
doesn't get transmitted from A -> C. Because of that
the link from A-C is transistioned to the forwarding state.
The root cause of this is that the configuration messages
is generated with bogus message age, and dropped before
sending.
In the standardmessage_age is supposed to be:
the time since the generation of the Configuration BPDU by
the Root that instigated the generation of this Configuration BPDU.
Reimplement this by recording the timestamp (age + jiffies) when
recording config information. The old code incorrectly used the time
elapsed on the ageing timer which was incorrect.

This adds support for a configuring the minimum number of links that
must be active before asserting carrier. It is similar to the Cisco
EtherChannel min-links feature. This allows setting the minimum number
of member ports that must be up (link-up state) before marking the
bond device as up (carrier on). This is useful for situations where
higher level services such as clustering want to ensure a minimum
number of low bandwidth links are active before switchover.

The tun driver allocates skb's to hold data from user and then passes
the data into the network stack as received data. Most network devices
allocate the receive skb with routines like dev_alloc_skb() that reserves

TCP Cubic keeps a metric that estimates the amount of delayed
acknowledgements to use in adjusting the window. If an abnormally
large number of packets are acknowledged at once, then the update
could wrap and reach zero. This kind of ACK could only
happen when there was a large window and huge number of
ACK's were lost.
This patch limits the value of delayed ack ratio. The choice of 32
is just a conservative value since normally it should be range of

Add netlink device ops to allow creating bridge device via netlink.
This works in a manner similar to vlan, macvlan and bonding.
Example:
# ip link add link dev br0 type bridge
# ip link del dev br0
The change required rearranging initializtion code to deal with

in br_dev_setup, but allocation of stats is done in ndo_init callback
to deal with allocation failure. Sysfs setup has to wait until

If Spanning Tree Protocol is not enabled, there is no good reason for
the bridge code to wait for the forwarding delay period before enabling
the link. The purpose of the forwarding delay is to allow STP to

the bridge may flood a packet now, where previously it might have

This makes the bridge device behave like a physical device.

The dmaw_block is an enum and max_pay_load is u32. Therefore
sparse gives warning about comparison of unsigned and signed value.
Resolve by using min_t to force cast.

Use __force to quiet sparse warnings for cases where the code
is simulating user space pointers.

The variable _data is used in asm-generic to define sections
which causes sparse warnings, so just rename the variable.

CHOKe ("CHOose and Kill" or "CHOose and Keep") is an alternative
packet scheduler based on the Random Exponential Drop (RED) algorithm.
The core idea is:
For every packet arrival:
Calculate Qave
if (Qave < minth)
Queue the new packet
else
Select randomly a packet from the queue
if (both packets from same flow)
then Drop both the packets
else if (Qave > maxth)
Drop packet
else
Admit packet with proability p (same as RED)

The change to allow divisor to be a parameter (in 2.6.38-rc1)
commit 817fb15dfd
introduced a possible deadlock caught by sparse.
The scheduler tree lock was left locked in the case of an incorrect
divisor value. Simplest fix is to move test outside of lock
which also solves problem of partial update.
