anything higher than 255 then it is invalid. I have made that the limit

corrupts past the end of the char. It's probably hard to notice because
the struct has padding so the code works on little endian systems. But
on a big endian system the code would fail and on a 64 bit, big endian

have truncated the last character off the output string. If we truncate
two or more characters then we exit without printing.
After some discussion, we decided that printing truncated data is better
than not printing at all so we should just use vscnprintf() and remove
the test entirely. Also I have updated memcpy() to copy the NUL char

Also I threw in a bonus cleanup by deleting an obvious comment and a
no-op NULL assignment. :)

My static checker complains that if "len == remaining" then it means we
have truncated the last character off the version string.
The intent of the code is that we print as many versions as we can
without truncating a version. Then we put a newline at the end. If the
newline can't fit we return -EINVAL.

This function isn't right and it causes a static checker warning:
drivers/md/dm-thin.c:3016 maybe_resize_data_dev()
error: potentially using uninitialized 'sb_data_size'.
It should set "*count" and return zero on success the same as the
sm_metadata_get_nr_blocks() function does earlier.

In olden times the snd_hda_param_read() function always set "*start_id"
but in 2007 we introduced a new return and it causes uninitialized data
bugs in a couple of the callers: print_codec_info() and
hdmi_parse_codec().

very interesting so I just deleted them.

We check for NULL pointers after dereferencing so it's too late. Oddly
enough, Smatch misses this code but complains about the caller passing
NULL pointers to this function:
drivers/mmc/host/toshsd.c:389 toshsd_irq()
error: we previously assumed 'host->cmd' could be null (see line 349)

This can't be NULL and we dereferenced it earlier. Smatch used to
ignore these things where the pointer was obviously non-NULL but I've
found that sometimes the intention was to check something else so we
were maybe missing bugs.

"devc" can't be NULL here so there is no need to check. Also I removed
the "devc = NULL" assignment because devc is stored on stack so it's
a no-op.
