Merge tag 'xfs-4.16-merge-5' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/fs/xfs/xfs-linux
Pull more xfs updates from Darrick Wong:
"As promised, here's a (much smaller) second pull request for the
second week of the merge cycle. This time around we have a couple
patches shutting off unsupported fs configurations, and a couple of
cleanups.
Last, we turn off EXPERIMENTAL for the reverse mapping btree, since
the primary downstream user of that information (online fsck) is now
upstream and I haven't seen any major failures in a few kernel
releases.
Summary:
- Print scrub build status in the xfs build info.
- Explicitly call out the remaining two scenarios where we don't
support reflink and never have.
- Remove EXPERIMENTAL tag from reverse mapping btree!"
* tag 'xfs-4.16-merge-5' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/fs/xfs/xfs-linux:
xfs: remove experimental tag for reverse mapping
xfs: don't allow reflink + realtime filesystems
xfs: don't allow DAX on reflink filesystems
xfs: add scrub to XFS_BUILD_OPTIONS

Merge branch 'overlayfs-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mszeredi/vfs
Pull overlayfs updates from Miklos Szeredi: "This work from Amir adds NFS export capability to overlayfs. NFS exporting an overlay filesystem is a challange because we want to keep track of any copy-up of a file or directory between encoding the file handle and decoding it. This is achieved by indexing copied up objects by lower layer file handle. Merge branch 'x86-pti-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip
Pull spectre/meltdown updates from Thomas Gleixner:
"The next round of updates related to melted spectrum:
- The initial set of spectre V1 mitigations:
- Array index speculation blocker and its usage for syscall,
fdtable and the n180211 driver.
- Speculation barrier and its usage in user access functions
- Make indirect calls in KVM speculation safe
- Blacklisting of known to be broken microcodes so IPBP/IBSR are not
touched.
- The initial IBPB support and its usage in context switch
- The exposure of the new speculation MSRs to KVM guests.
- A fix for a regression in x86/32 related to the cpu entry area
- Proper whitelisting for known to be safe CPUs from the mitigations.
- objtool fixes to deal proper with retpolines and alternatives
- Exclude __init functions from retpolines which speeds up the boot
process.
- Removal of the syscall64 fast path and related cleanups and
simplifications
- Removal of the unpatched paravirt mode which is yet another source
of indirect unproteced calls.
- A new and undisputed version of the module mismatch warning
- A couple of cleanup and correctness fixes all over the place
Yet another step towards full mitigation. There are a few things still
missing like the RBS underflow mitigation for Skylake and other small
details, but that's being worked on.
That said, I'm taking a belated christmas vacation for a week and hope
that everything is magically solved when I'm back on Feb 12th"

Merge branch 'irq-urgent-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip

- a fix for a interrupt regression caused by the vector management
changes in 4.15 affecting museum pieces which rely on interrupt
probing for legacy (e.g. parallel port) devices.
One of the startup calls in the autoprobe code was not changed to
the new activate_and_startup() function resulting in a warning and
as a consequence failing to discover the device interrupt.

Merge tag 'for-linus-20180204' of git://git.kernel.dk/linux-block
Pull more block updates from Jens Axboe:
"Most of this is fixes and not new code/features:
- skd fix from Arnd, fixing a build error dependent on sla allocator
type.
- blk-mq scheduler discard merging fixes, one from me and one from
Keith. This fixes a segment miscalculation for blk-mq-sched, where
we mistakenly think two segments are physically contigious even
though the request isn't carrying real data. Also fixes a bio-to-rq
merge case.
- Don't re-set a bit on the buffer_head flags, if it's already set.
This can cause scalability concerns on bigger machines and
workloads. From Kemi Wang.
- Add BLK_STS_DEV_RESOURCE return value to blk-mq, allowing us to
distuingish between a local (device related) resource starvation
and a global one. The latter might happen without IO being in
flight, so it has to be handled a bit differently. From Ming"

Merge tag 'usercopy-v4.16-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kees/linux
Pull hardened usercopy whitelisting from Kees Cook: "Currently, hardened usercopy performs dynamic bounds checking on slab cache objects. This is good, but still leaves a lot of kernel memory available to be copied to/from userspace in the face of bugs. To further restrict what memory is available for copying, this creates a way to whitelist specific areas of a given slab cache object for copying to/from userspace, allowing much finer granularity of access control. Slab caches that are never exposed to userspace can declare no whitelist for their objects, thereby keeping them unavailable to userspace via dynamic copy operations. (Note, an implicit form of whitelisting is the use of constant sizes in usercopy operations and get_user()/put_user(); these bypass all hardened usercopy checks since these sizes cannot change at runtime.) This new check is WARN-by-default, so any mistakes can be found over the next several releases without breaking anyone's system. The series has roughly the following sections: - remove %p and improve reporting with offset - prepare infrastructure and whitelist kmalloc - update VFS subsystem with whitelists - update SCSI subsystem with whitelists - update network subsystem with whitelists - update process memory with whitelists - update per-architecture thread_struct with whitelists - update KVM with whitelists and fix ioctl bug - mark all other allocations as not whitelisted - update lkdtm for more sensible test overage" * tag 'usercopy-v4.16-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kees/linux: (38 commits) lkdtm: Update usercopy tests for whitelisting usercopy: Restrict non-usercopy caches to size 0 kvm: x86: fix KVM_XEN_HVM_CONFIG ioctl kvm: whitelist struct kvm_vcpu_arch arm: Implement thread_struct whitelist for hardened usercopy arm64: Implement thread_struct whitelist for hardened usercopy x86: Implement thread_struct whitelist for hardened usercopy fork: Provide usercopy whitelisting for task_struct fork: Define usercopy region in thread_stack slab caches fork: Define usercopy region in mm_struct slab caches net: Restrict unwhitelisted proto caches to size 0 sctp: Copy struct sctp_sock.autoclose to userspace using put_user() sctp: Define usercopy region in SCTP proto slab cache caif: Define usercopy region in caif proto slab cache ip: Define usercopy region in IP proto slab cache net: Define usercopy region in struct proto slab cache scsi: Define usercopy region in scsi_sense_cache slab cache cifs: Define usercopy region in cifs_request slab cache vxfs: Define usercopy region in vxfs_inode slab cache ufs: Define usercopy region in ufs_inode_cache slab cache ... |

<linux/pinctrl/devinfo.h>, so any change to that file ended up causing
pretty much every driver out there to be rebuilt.
The reason for that was because 'struct device' has this in it:
#ifdef CONFIG_PINCTRL
struct dev_pin_info *pins;
#endif
but we already avoid header includes for these kinds of things in that
header file, preferring to just use a forward-declaration of the
structure instead. Exactly to avoid this kind of header dependency.
Since some drivers seem to expect that <linux/pinctrl/devinfo.h> header
to come in automatically, move the include to <linux/pinctrl/pinctrl.h>
instead. It might be better to just make the includes more targeted,
but I'm not going to review every driver.
It would definitely be good to have a tool for finding and minimizing
header dependencies automatically - or at least help with them. Right
now we almost certainly end up having way too many of these things, and
it's hard to test every single configuration.
FWIW, you can get a sense of the "hotness" of a header file with something
like this after doing a full build:
find . -name '.*.o.cmd' -print0 |
xargs -0 tail --lines=+2 |
grep -v 'wildcard ' |
tr ' \\' '\n' |
sort | uniq -c | sort -n | less -S
which isn't exact (there are other things in those '*.o.cmd' than just
the dependencies, and the "--lines=+2" only removes the header), but
might a useful approximation.
With this patch, <linux/pinctrl/devinfo.h> drops to "only" having 833
users in the current x86-64 allmodconfig. In contrast, <linux/device.h>
has 14857 build files including it directly or indirectly.
Of course, the headers that absolutely _everybody_ includes (things like
<linux/types.h> etc) get a score of 23000+.

Merge tag 'pinctrl-v4.16-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-pinctrl
Pull pin control updates from Linus Walleij:
"This is the bulk of pin control changes for the v4.16 kernel cycle.
Like with GPIO it is actually a bit calm this time.
Core changes:
- After lengthy discussions and partly due to my ignorance, we have
merged a patch making pinctrl_force_default() and
pinctrl_force_sleep() reprogram the states into the hardware of any
hogged pins, even if they are already in the desired state.
This only apply to hogged pins since groups of pins owned by
drivers need to be managed by each driver, lest they could not do
things like runtime PM and put pins to sleeping state even if the
system as a whole is not in sleep.
New drivers:
- New driver for the Microsemi Ocelot SoC. This is used in ethernet
switches.
- The X-Powers AXP209 GPIO driver was extended to also deal with pin
control and moved over from the GPIO subsystem. This circuit is a
mixed-mode integrated circuit which is part of AllWinner designs.
- New subdriver for the Qualcomm MSM8998 SoC, core of a high end
mobile devices (phones) chipset.
- New subdriver for the ST Microelectronics STM32MP157 MPU and
STM32F769 MCU from the STM32 family.
- New subdriver for the MediaTek MT7622 SoC. This is used for
routers, repeater, gateways and such network infrastructure.
- New subdriver for the NXP (former Freescale) i.MX 6ULL. This SoC
has multimedia features and target "smart devices", I guess in-car
entertainment, in-flight entertainment, industrial control panels
etc.
General improvements:
- Incremental improvements on the SH-PFC subdrivers for things like
the CAN bus.
- Enable the glitch filter on Baytrail GPIOs used for interrupts.
- Proper handling of pins to GPIO ranges on the Semtec SX150X
- An IRQ setup ordering fix on MCP23S08.
- A good set of janitorial coding style fixes"

Merge tag 'clk-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/clk/linux
Pull clk updates from Stephen Boyd:
"The core framework has a handful of patches this time around, mostly
due to the clk rate protection support added by Jerome Brunet.
This feature will allow consumers to lock in a certain rate on the
output of a clk so that things like audio playback don't hear pops
when the clk frequency changes due to shared parent clks changing
rates. Currently the clk API doesn't guarantee the rate of a clk stays
at the rate you request after clk_set_rate() is called, so this new
API will allow drivers to express that requirement.
Beyond this, the core got some debugfs pretty printing patches and a
couple minor non-critical fixes.
Looking outside of the core framework diff we have some new driver
additions and the removal of a legacy TI clk driver. Both of these hit
high in the dirstat. Also, the removal of the asm-generic/clkdev.h
file causes small one-liners in all the architecture Kbuild files.
Overall, the driver diff seems to be the normal stuff that comes all
the time to fix little problems here and there and to support new
hardware.
Summary:
Core:
- Clk rate protection
- Symbolic clk flags in debugfs output
- Clk registration enabled clks while doing bookkeeping updates
New Drivers:
- Spreadtrum SC9860
- HiSilicon hi3660 stub
- Qualcomm A53 PLL, SPMI clkdiv, and MSM8916 APCS
- Amlogic Meson-AXG
- ASPEED BMC
Removed Drivers:
- TI OMAP 3xxx legacy clk (non-DT) support
- asm*/clkdev.h got removed (not really a driver)
Updates:
- Renesas FDP1-0 module clock on R-Car M3-W
- Renesas LVDS module clock on R-Car V3M
- Misc fixes to pr_err() prints
- Qualcomm MSM8916 audio fixes
- Qualcomm IPQ8074 rounded out support for more peripherals

Merge branch 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/pmladek/printk
Pull printk updates from Petr Mladek:
- Add a console_msg_format command line option:
The value "default" keeps the old "[time stamp] text\n" format. The
value "syslog" allows to see the syslog-like "<log
level>[timestamp] text" format.
This feature was requested by people doing regression tests, for
example, 0day robot. They want to have both filtered and full logs
at hands.
- Reduce the risk of softlockup:
Pass the console owner in a busy loop.
This is a new approach to the old problem. It was first proposed by
Steven Rostedt on Kernel Summit 2017. It marks a context in which
the console_lock owner calls console drivers and could not sleep.
On the other side, printk() callers could detect this state and use
a busy wait instead of a simple console_trylock(). Finally, the
console_lock owner checks if there is a busy waiter at the end of
the special context and eventually passes the console_lock to the
waiter.
The hand-off works surprisingly well and helps in many situations.
Well, there is still a possibility of the softlockup, for example,
when the flood of messages stops and the last owner still has too
much to flush.
There is increasing number of people having problems with
printk-related softlockups. We might eventually need to get better
solution. Anyway, this looks like a good start and promising
direction.
- Do not allow to schedule in console_unlock() called from printk():
This reverts an older controversial commit. The reschedule helped
to avoid softlockups. But it also slowed down the console output.
This patch is obsoleted by the new console waiter logic described
above. In fact, the reschedule made the hand-off less effective.
- Deprecate "%pf" and "%pF" format specifier:
It was needed on ia64, ppc64 and parisc64 to dereference function
descriptors and show the real function address. It is done
transparently by "%ps" and "pS" format specifier now.
Sergey Senozhatsky found that all the function descriptors were in
a special elf section and could be easily detected.
- Remove printk_symbol() API:
It has been obsoleted by "%pS" format specifier, and this change
helped to remove few continuous lines and a less intuitive old API.
- Remove redundant memsets:
Sergey removed unnecessary memset when processing printk.devkmsg
command line option.

Merge tag 'trace-v4.16' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rostedt/linux-trace
Pull tracing updates from Steven Rostedt: "There's not much changes for the tracing system this release. Mostly small clean ups and fixes. The biggest change is to how bprintf works. bprintf is used by trace_printk() to just save the format and args of a printf call, and the formatting is done when the trace buffer is read. This is done to keep the formatting out of the fast path (this was recommended by you). The issue is when arguments are de-referenced. If a pointer is saved, and the format has something like "%*pbl", when the buffer is read, it will de-reference the argument then. The problem is if the data no longer exists. This can cause the kernel to oops. The fix for this was to make these de-reference pointes do the formatting at the time it is called (the fast path), as this guarantees that the data exists (and doesn't change later)" * tag 'trace-v4.16' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rostedt/linux-trace: vsprintf: Do not have bprintf dereference pointers ftrace: Mark function tracer test functions noinline/noclone trace_uprobe: Display correct offset in uprobe_events tracing: Make sure the parsed string always terminates with '\0' tracing: Clear parser->idx if only spaces are read tracing: Detect the string nul character when parsing user input string |

Merge branch 'KASAN-read_word_at_a_time'
Merge KASAN word-at-a-time fixups from Andrey Ryabinin. The word-at-a-time optimizations have caused headaches for KASAN, since the whole point is that we access byte streams in bigger chunks, and KASAN can be unhappy about the potential extra access at the end of the string. We used to have a horrible hack in dcache, and then people got complaints from the strscpy() case. This fixes it all up properly, by adding an explicit helper for the "access byte stream one word at a time" case. * emailed patches from Andrey Ryabinin <aryabinin@virtuozzo.com>: fs: dcache: Revert "manually unpoison dname after allocation to shut up kasan's reports" fs/dcache: Use read_word_at_a_time() in dentry_string_cmp() lib/strscpy: Shut up KASAN false-positives in strscpy() compiler.h: Add read_word_at_a_time() function. compiler.h, kasan: Avoid duplicating __read_once_size_nocheck() |

Merge tag 'kconfig-v4.16' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/masahiroy/linux-kbuild
Pull Kconfig updates from Masahiro Yamada:
"A pretty big batch of Kconfig updates.
I have to mention the lexer and parser of Kconfig are now built from
real .l and .y sources. So, flex and bison are the requirement for
building the kernel. Both of them (unlike gperf) have been stable for
a long time. This change has been tested several weeks in linux-next,
and I did not receive any problem report about this.
Summary:
- add checks for mistakes, like the choice default is not in choice,
help is doubled
- document data structure and complex code
- fix various memory leaks
- change Makefile to build lexer and parser instead of using
pre-generated C files
- drop 'boolean' keyword, which is equivalent to 'bool'
- use default 'yy' prefix and remove unneeded Make variables
- fix gettext() check for xconfig
- announce that oldnoconfig will be finally removed
- make 'Selected by:' and 'Implied by' readable in help and search
result
- hide silentoldconfig from 'make help' to stop confusing people
- fix misc things and cleanups"

Merge branch 'next-integrity' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jmorris/linux-security
Pull integrity updates from James Morris: "This contains a mixture of bug fixes, code cleanup, and new functionality. Of note is the integrity cache locking fix, file change detection, and support for a new EVM portable and immutable signature type. The re-introduction of the integrity cache lock (iint) fixes the problem of attempting to take the i_rwsem shared a second time, when it was previously taken exclusively. Defining atomic flags resolves the original iint/i_rwsem circular locking - accessing the file data vs. modifying the file metadata. Although it fixes the O_DIRECT problem as well, a subsequent patch is needed to remove the explicit O_DIRECT prevention. For performance reasons, detecting when a file has changed and needs to be re-measured, re-appraised, and/or re-audited, was limited to after the last writer has closed, and only if the file data has changed. Detecting file change is based on i_version. For filesystems that do not support i_version, remote filesystems, or userspace filesystems, the file was measured, appraised and/or audited once and never re-evaluated. Now local filesystems, which do not support i_version or are not mounted with the i_version option, assume the file has changed and are required to re-evaluate the file. This change does not address detecting file change on remote or userspace filesystems. Unlike file data signatures, which can be included and distributed in software packages (eg. rpm, deb), the existing EVM signature, which protects the file metadata, could not be included in software packages, as it includes file system specific information (eg. i_ino, possibly the UUID). This pull request defines a new EVM portable and immutable file metadata signature format, which can be included in software packages" * 'next-integrity' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jmorris/linux-security: ima/policy: fix parsing of fsuuid ima: Use i_version only when filesystem supports it integrity: remove unneeded initializations in integrity_iint_cache entries ima: log message to module appraisal error ima: pass filename to ima_rdwr_violation_check() ima: Fix line continuation format ima: support new "hash" and "dont_hash" policy actions ima: re-introduce own integrity cache lock EVM: Add support for portable signature format EVM: Allow userland to permit modification of EVM-protected metadata ima: relax requiring a file signature for new files with zero length |

Merge tag 'gpio-v4.16-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio
Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij:
"The is the bulk of GPIO changes for the v4.16 kernel cycle. It is
pretty calm this time around I think. I even got time to get to things
like starting to clean up header includes.
Core changes:
- Disallow open drain and open source flags to be set simultaneously.
This doesn't make electrical sense, and would the hardware actually
respond to this setting, the result would be short circuit.
- ACPI GPIO has a new core infrastructure for handling quirks. The
quirks are there to deal with broken ACPI tables centrally instead
of pushing the work to individual drivers. In the world of BIOS
writers, the ACPI tables are perfect. Until they find a mistake in
it. When such a mistake is found, we can patch it with a quirk. It
should never happen, the problem is that it happens. So we
accomodate for it.
- Several documentation updates.
- Revert the patch setting up initial direction state from reading
the device. This was causing bad things for drivers that can't read
status on all its pins. It is only affecting debugfs information
quality.
- Label descriptors with the device name if no explicit label is
passed in.
- Pave the ground for transitioning SPI and regulators to use GPIO
descriptors by implementing some quirks in the device tree GPIO
parsing code.
New drivers:
- New driver for the Access PCIe IDIO 24 family.
Other:
- Major refactorings and improvements to the GPIO mockup driver used
for test and verification.
- Moved the AXP209 driver over to pin control since it gained a pin
control back-end. These patches will appear (with the same hashes)
in the pin control pull request as well.
- Convert the onewire GPIO driver w1-gpio to use descriptors. This is
merged here since the W1 maintainers send very few pull requests
and he ACKed it.
- Start to clean up driver headers using <linux/gpio.h> to just use
<linux/gpio/driver.h> as appropriate"

Merge tag 'xfs-4.16-merge-4' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/fs/xfs/xfs-linux
Pull xfs updates from Darrick Wong:
"This merge cycle, we're again some substantive changes to XFS.
Metadata verifiers have been restructured to provide more detail about
which part of a metadata structure failed checks, and we've enhanced
the new online fsck feature to cross-reference extent allocation
information with the other metadata structures. With this pull, the
metadata verification part of online fsck is more or less finished,
though the feature is still experimental and still disabled by
default.
We're also preparing to remove the EXPERIMENTAL tag from a couple of
features this cycle. This week we're committing a bunch of space
accounting fixes for reflink and removing the EXPERIMENTAL tag from
reflink; I anticipate that we'll be ready to do the same for the
reverse mapping feature next week. (I don't have any pending fixes for
rmap; however I wish to remove the tags one at a time.)
This giant pile of patches has been run through a full xfstests run
over the weekend and through a quick xfstests run against this
morning's master, with no major failures reported. Let me know if
there's any merge problems -- git merge reported that one of our
patches touched the same function as the i_version series, but it
resolved things cleanly.
Summary:
- Log faulting code locations when verifiers fail, for improved
diagnosis of corrupt filesystems.
- Implement metadata verifiers for local format inode fork data.
- Online scrub now cross-references metadata records with other
metadata.
- Refactor the fs geometry ioctl generation functions.
- Harden various metadata verifiers.
- Fix various accounting problems.
- Fix uncancelled transactions leaking when xattr functions fail.
- Prevent the copy-on-write speculative preallocation garbage
collector from racing with writeback.
- Emit log reservation type information as trace data so that we can
compare against xfsprogs.
- Fix some erroneous asserts in the online scrub code.
- Clean up the transaction reservation calculations.
- Fix various minor bugs in online scrub.
- Log complaints about mixed dio/buffered writes once per day and
less noisily than before.
- Refactor buffer log item lists to use list_head.
- Break PNFS leases before reflinking blocks.
- Reduce lock contention on reflink source files.
- Fix some quota accounting problems with reflink.
- Fix a serious corruption problem in the direct cow write code where
we fed bad iomaps to the vfs iomap consumers.
- Various other refactorings.
- Remove EXPERIMENTAL tag from reflink!"

Merge tag 'gfs2-4.16.fixes' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gfs2/linux-gfs2
Pull GFS2 updates from Bob Peterson:
"We've got 30 patches for this merge window. These generally fall into
five categories:
- code cleanups
- patches related to adding PUNCH_HOLE support to GFS2
- support for new fields in resource group headers
- a few bug fixes
- support for new fields in journal log headers. These new fields,
which were previously unused, are designed to make it easier to
track down file system corruption, and allow fsck.gfs2 to make more
intelligent decisions when finding and fixing file system
corruption.
Details:
- Two patches from Abhi Das, to trim the ordered writes list, which
used to grow uncontrollably until unmount.
- Several patches from Andreas Gruenbacher: remove an unused
parameter from function gfs2_write_jdata_pagevec, remove a
pointless BUG_ON, clean up an error patch in trunc_start, remove
some unused parameters from truncate, make gfs2_journaled_truncate
more efficient, clean up the support functions for truncate, fix
metadata read-ahead for truncate to make it faster, fix up the
non-recursive truncate code, rework and rename
gfs2_block_truncate_page, generalize the non-recursive truncate
code so it can take a range of values for punch_hole support,
introduce new PUNCH_HOLE support that take advantage of the
previous patches, add fallocate support with PUNCH_HOLE, fix some
typos in the comments, add the function gfs2_max_stuffed_size to
replace a piece of code that was needlessly repeated throughout
GFS2, a minor cleanup to function gfs2_page_add_databufs, get rid
of function gfs2_log_header_in in preparation for the new log
header fields, and also fix up some missing newlines in kernel
messages.
- Andy Price added a new field to resource groups to indicate where
the next one should be, to allow fsck.gfs2 to make better repairs.
He also added new rindex fields for consistency checking, and added
a crc field to resource group headers for consistency checking.
- I reduced redundancy in functions common to freeing dinodes, and
when writing log headers between the journalling code and journal
recovery code. Also added new fields to journal log headers based
on a prototype from Steve Whitehouse, and log the source of journal
log headers so we can better track down journal corruption. Minor
comment typo fix and a fix for a BUG in an unlink error path.
- Steve Whitehouse contributed a patch to fix an incorrect use of the
gfs2_blk2rgrpd function.
- Tetsuo Handa contributed a patch that fixes incorrect error
handling in function init_gfs2_fs"

Merge branch 'misc.poll' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/vfs
Pull poll annotations from Al Viro: "This introduces a __bitwise type for POLL### bitmap, and propagates the annotations through the tree. Most of that stuff is as simple as 'make ->poll() instances return __poll_t and do the same to local variables used to hold the future return value'. Some of the obvious brainos found in process are fixed (e.g. POLLIN misspelled as POLL_IN). At that point the amount of sparse warnings is low and most of them are for genuine bugs - e.g. ->poll() instance deciding to return -EINVAL instead of a bitmap. I hadn't touched those in this series - it's large enough as it is. Another problem it has caught was eventpoll() ABI mess; select.c and eventpoll.c assumed that corresponding POLL### and EPOLL### were equal. That's true for some, but not all of them - EPOLL### are arch-independent, but POLL### are not. The last commit in this series separates userland POLL### values from the (now arch-independent) kernel-side ones, converting between them in the few places where they are copied to/from userland. AFAICS, this is the least disruptive fix preserving poll(2) ABI and making epoll() work on all architectures. As it is, it's simply broken on sparc - try to give it EPOLLWRNORM and it will trigger only on what would've triggered EPOLLWRBAND on other architectures. EPOLLWRBAND and EPOLLRDHUP, OTOH, are never triggered at all on sparc. With this patch they should work consistently on all architectures" * 'misc.poll' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/vfs: (37 commits) make kernel-side POLL... arch-independent eventpoll: no need to mask the result of epi_item_poll() again eventpoll: constify struct epoll_event pointers debugging printk in sg_poll() uses %x to print POLL... bitmap annotate poll(2) guts 9p: untangle ->poll() mess ->si_band gets POLL... bitmap stored into a user-visible long field ring_buffer_poll_wait() return value used as return value of ->poll() the rest of drivers/*: annotate ->poll() instances media: annotate ->poll() instances fs: annotate ->poll() instances ipc, kernel, mm: annotate ->poll() instances net: annotate ->poll() instances apparmor: annotate ->poll() instances tomoyo: annotate ->poll() instances sound: annotate ->poll() instances acpi: annotate ->poll() instances crypto: annotate ->poll() instances block: annotate ->poll() instances x86: annotate ->poll() instances ... |

Pull workqueue updates from Tejun Heo: "Workqueue has an early init trick where workqueues can be created and work items queued on them before the workqueue subsystem is online. This helps simplifying early init and operation of low level subsystems which use workqueues for managerial things which aren't depended upon early during boot. Out of laziness, the early init didn't cover workqueues with WQ_MEM_RECLAIM, which is inconsistent and confusing because adding the flag simply makes the system fail to boot. Merge branch 'siginfo-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ebiederm/user-namespace
Pull siginfo cleanups from Eric Biederman: "Long ago when 2.4 was just a testing release copy_siginfo_to_user was made to copy individual fields to userspace, possibly for efficiency and to ensure initialized values were not copied to userspace. Unfortunately the design was complex, it's assumptions unstated, and humans are fallible and so while it worked much of the time that design failed to ensure unitialized memory is not copied to userspace. This set of changes is part of a new design to clean up siginfo and simplify things, and hopefully make the siginfo handling robust enough that a simple inspection of the code can be made to ensure we don't copy any unitializied fields to userspace. The design is to unify struct siginfo and struct compat_siginfo into a single definition that is shared between all architectures so that anyone adding to the set of information shared with struct siginfo can see the whole picture. Hopefully ensuring all future si_code assignments are arch independent. The design is to unify copy_siginfo_to_user32 and copy_siginfo_from_user32 so that those function are complete and cope with all of the different cases documented in signinfo_layout. I don't think there was a single implementation of either of those functions that was complete and correct before my changes unified them. The design is to introduce a series of helpers including force_siginfo_fault that take the values that are needed in struct siginfo and build the siginfo structure for their callers. Ensuring struct siginfo is built correctly. The remaining work for 4.17 (unless someone thinks it is post -rc1 material) is to push usage of those helpers down into the architectures so that architecture specific code will not need to deal with the fiddly work of intializing struct siginfo, and then when struct siginfo is guaranteed to be fully initialized change copy siginfo_to_user into a simple wrapper around copy_to_user. Further there is work in progress on the issues that have been documented requires arch specific knowledge to sort out. The changes below fix or at least document all of the issues that have been found with siginfo generation. Then proceed to unify struct siginfo the 32 bit helpers that copy siginfo to and from userspace, and generally clean up anything that is not arch specific with regards to siginfo generation. It is a lot but with the unification you can of siginfo you can already see the code reduction in the kernel" * 'siginfo-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ebiederm/user-namespace: (45 commits) signal/memory-failure: Use force_sig_mceerr and send_sig_mceerr mm/memory_failure: Remove unused trapno from memory_failure signal/ptrace: Add force_sig_ptrace_errno_trap and use it where needed signal/powerpc: Remove unnecessary signal_code parameter of do_send_trap signal: Helpers for faults with specialized siginfo layouts signal: Add send_sig_fault and force_sig_fault signal: Replace memset(info,...) with clear_siginfo for clarity signal: Don't use structure initializers for struct siginfo signal/arm64: Better isolate the COMPAT_TASK portion of ptrace_hbptriggered ptrace: Use copy_siginfo in setsiginfo and getsiginfo signal: Unify and correct copy_siginfo_to_user32 signal: Remove the code to clear siginfo before calling copy_siginfo_from_user32 signal: Unify and correct copy_siginfo_from_user32 signal/blackfin: Remove pointless UID16_SIGINFO_COMPAT_NEEDED signal/blackfin: Move the blackfin specific si_codes to asm-generic/siginfo.h signal/tile: Move the tile specific si_codes to asm-generic/siginfo.h signal/frv: Move the frv specific si_codes to asm-generic/siginfo.h signal/ia64: Move the ia64 specific si_codes to asm-generic/siginfo.h signal/powerpc: Remove redefinition of NSIGTRAP on powerpc signal: Move addr_lsb into the _sigfault union for clarity ... |
