This series contains fixes to e1000e only.
Benjamin Poirier provides two fixes, first reverts commits that changed
what happens to the link status when there is an error. These commits
were to resolve a race condition, but in the process of fixing the race
condition, they changed the behavior when an error occurred. Second fix
resolves a race condition by not setting "get_link_status" to false
after checking the link.

Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates 2018-03-05
This series contains fixes to e1000e only.
Benjamin Poirier provides all but one fix in this series, starting with
workaround for a VMWare e1000e emulation issue where ICR reads 0x0 on
the emulated device. Partially reverted a previous commit dealing with
the "Other" interrupt throttling to avoid unforeseen fallout from these
changes that are not strictly necessary. Restored the ICS write for
receive and transmit queue interrupts in the case that txq or rxq bits
were set in ICR and the Other interrupt handler read and cleared ICR
before the queue interrupt was raised. Fixed an bug where interrupts
may be missed if ICR is read while INT_ASSERTED is not set, so avoid the
problem by setting all bits related to events that can trigger the Other
interrupt in IMS. Fixed the return value for check_for_link() when
auto-negotiation is off.
Pierre-Yves Kerbrat fixes e1000e to use dma_zalloc_coherent() to make
sure the ring is memset to 0 to prevent the area from containing

net: Use strlcpy() for ethtool::get_strings
After turning on KASAN on one of my systems, I started getting lots of out of

memcpy() is unsafe for copying strings which have not been declared as an array
of ETH_GSTRING_LEN bytes, so let's use strlcpy() instead. This allows the best

GSO_BY_FRAGS correctness improvements
As requested [1], I went through and had a look at users of gso_size to
see if there were things that need to be fixed to consider
GSO_BY_FRAGS, and I have tried to improve our helper functions to deal
with this case.
I found a few. This fixes bugs relating to the use of
skb_gso_*_seglen() where GSO_BY_FRAGS is not considered.
Patch 1 renames skb_gso_validate_mtu to skb_gso_validate_network_len.
This is follow-up to my earlier patch 2b16f04872 ("net: create
skb_gso_validate_mac_len()"), and just makes everything a bit clearer.
Patches 2 and 3 replace the final users of skb_gso_network_seglen() -
which doesn't consider GSO_BY_FRAGS - with
skb_gso_validate_network_len(), which does. This allows me to make the
skb_gso_*_seglen functions private in patch 4 - now future users won't
accidentally do the wrong comparison.
Two things remain. One is qdisc_pkt_len_init, which is discussed at
[2] - it's caught up in the GSO_DODGY mess. I don't have any expertise
in GSO_DODGY, and it looks like a good clean fix will involve
unpicking the whole validation mess, so I have left it for now.
Secondly, there are 3 eBPF opcodes that change the gso_size of an SKB
and don't consider GSO_BY_FRAGS. This is going through the bpf tree.
Regards,
Daniel
[1] https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/comment/1852414/
[2] https://www.spinics.net/lists/netdev/msg482397.html
PS: This is all in the core networking stack. For a driver to be
affected by this it would need to support NETIF_F_GSO_SCTP /
NETIF_F_GSO_SOFTWARE and then either use gso_size or not be a purely
virtual device. (Many drivers look at gso_size, but do not support
SCTP segmentation, so the core network will segment an SCTP gso before
it hits them.) Based on that, the only driver that may be affected is
sunvnet, but I have no way of testing it, so I haven't looked at it.

It is not valid for orion5x to use mac_pton().
First of all, the orion5x buffer is not NULL terminated. mac_pton()
has no business operating on non-NULL terminated buffers because
only the caller can know that this is valid and in what manner it
is ok to parse this NULL'less buffer.
Second of all, orion5x operates on an __iomem pointer, which cannot
be dereferenced using normal C pointer operations. Accesses to
such areas much be performed with the proper iomem accessors.

l2tp: fix API races discovered by syzbot
This patch series addresses several races with L2TP APIs discovered by

The set of patches 1-5 in combination fix the following syzbot reports.
19c09769f WARNING in debug_print_object
347bd5acd KASAN: use-after-free Read in inet_shutdown
6e6a5ec8d general protection fault in pppol2tp_connect
9df43faf0 KASAN: use-after-free Read in pppol2tp_connect
My first attempts to fix these issues were as net-next patches but
the series included other refactoring and cleanup work. I was asked to
separate out the bugfixes and redo for the net tree, which is what
these patches are.
The changes are:
1. Fix inet_shutdown races when L2TP tunnels and sessions close. (patches 1-2)
2. Fix races with tunnel and its socket. (patch 3)
3. Fix race in pppol2tp_release with session and its socket. (patch 4)
4. Fix tunnel lookup use-after-free. (patch 5)
All of the syzbot reproducers hit races in the tunnel and pppol2tp
session create and destroy paths. These tests create and destroy
pppol2tp tunnels and sessions rapidly using multiple threads,
provoking races in several tunnel/session create/destroy paths. The
key problem was that each tunnel/session socket could be destroyed
while its associated tunnel/session object still existed (patches 3,
4). Patch 5 addresses a problem with the way tunnels are removed from
the tunnel list. Patch 5 is tagged that it addresses all four syzbot
issues, though all 5 patches are needed.

tipc: Fix missing RTNL lock protection during setting link properties
At present it's unsafe to configure link properties through netlink
as the entire setting process is not under RTNL lock protection. Now
TIPC supports two different sets of netlink APIs at the same time, and
they share the same set of backend functions to configure bearer,
media and net properties. In order to solve the missing RTNL issue,
we have to make the whole __tipc_nl_compat_doit() protected by RTNL,
which means any function called within it cannot take RTNL any more.
So in the series we first introduce the following new functions which
doesn't hold RTNl lock:
- __tipc_nl_bearer_disable()
- __tipc_nl_bearer_enable()
- __tipc_nl_bearer_set()
- __tipc_nl_media_set()
- __tipc_nl_net_set()
Meanwhile, __tipc_nl_compat_doit() has been reconstructed to minimize
the time of holding RTNL lock.
Changes in v4:
- Per suggestion of Kirill Tkhai, divided original big one patch into
seven small ones so that they can be easily reviewed.
Changes in v3:
- Optimized return method of __tipc_nl_bearer_enable() regarding
the comments from David M and Kirill Tkhai
- Moved the allocations of memory in __tipc_nl_compat_doit() out
of RTNL lock to minimize the time of holding RTNL lock according
to the suggestion of Kirill Tkhai.
Changes in v2:
- The whole operation of setting bearer/media properties has been
protected under RTNL, as per feedback from David M.

pull-request: bpf 2018-02-09
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net* tree.
The main changes are:
1) Two fixes for BPF sockmap in order to break up circular map references
from programs attached to sockmap, and detaching related sockets in
case of socket close() event. For the latter we get rid of the
smap_state_change() and plug into ULP infrastructure, which will later
also be used for additional features anyway such as TX hooks. For the
second issue, dependency chain is broken up via map release callback
to free parse/verdict programs, all from John.
2) Fix a libbpf relocation issue that was found while implementing XDP
support for Suricata project. Issue was that when clang was invoked
with default target instead of bpf target, then various other e.g.
debugging relevant sections are added to the ELF file that contained
relocation entries pointing to non-BPF related sections which libbpf
trips over instead of skipping them. Test cases for libbpf are added
as well, from Jesper.
3) Various misc fixes for bpftool and one for libbpf: a small addition
to libbpf to make sure it recognizes all standard section prefixes.
Then, the Makefile in bpftool/Documentation is improved to explicitly
check for rst2man being installed on the system as we otherwise risk
installing empty man pages; the man page for bpftool-map is corrected
and a set of missing bash completions added in order to avoid shipping
bpftool where the completions are only partially working, from Quentin.
4) Fix applying the relocation to immediate load instructions in the
nfp JIT which were missing a shift, from Jakub.
5) Two fixes for the BPF kernel selftests: handle CONFIG_BPF_JIT_ALWAYS_ON=y
gracefully in test_bpf.ko module and mark them as FLAG_EXPECTED_FAIL
in this case; and explicitly delete the veth devices in the two tests
test_xdp_{meta,redirect}.sh before dismantling the netnses as when
selftests are run in batch mode, then workqueue to handle destruction
might not have finished yet and thus veth creation in next test under
same dev name would fail, from Yonghong.
6) Fix test_kmod.sh to check the test_bpf.ko module path before performing
an insmod, and fallback to modprobe. Especially the latter is useful
when having a device under test that has the modules installed instead,
from Naresh.

nfp: fix disabling TC offloads in flower, max TSO segs and module version
This set corrects the way nfp deals with the NETIF_F_HW_TC flag.
It has slipped the review that flower offload does not currently
refuse disabling this flag when filter offload is active.
nfp's flower offload does not actually keep track of how many filters
for each port are offloaded. The accounting of the number of filters
is added to the nfp core structures, and BPF moved to use these
structures as well.
If users are allowed to disable TC offloads while filters are active,
not only is it incorrect behaviour, but actually the NFP will never
be told to remove the flows, leading to use-after-free when stats
arrive.
Fourth patch makes sure we declare the max number of TSO segments.
FW should drop longer packets cleanly (otherwise this would be a
security problem for untrusted VFs) but dropping longer TSO frames
is not nice and driver should prevent them from being generated.
Last small addition populates MODULE_VERSION with kernel version.

40GbE Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates 2018-01-26
This series contains updates to i40e and i40evf.
Michal updates the driver to pass critical errors from the firmware to
the caller.
Patryk fixes an issue of creating multiple identical filters with the
same location, by simply moving the functions so that we remove the
existing filter and then add the new filter.
Paweł adds back in the ability to turn off offloads when VLAN is set for
the VF driver. Fixed an issue where the number of TC queue pairs was
exceeding MSI-X vectors count, causing messages about invalid TC mapping
and wrong selected Tx queue.
Alex cleans up the i40e/i40evf_set_itr_per_queue() by dropping all the
unneeded pointer chases. Puts to use the reg_idx value, which was going
unused, so that we can avoid having to compute the vector every time
throughout the driver.
Upasana enable the driver to display LLDP information on the vSphere Web
Client by exposing DCB parameters.
Alice converts our flags from 32 to 64 bit size, since we have added
more flags.
Dave implements a private ethtool flag to disable the processing of LLDP
packets by the firmware, so that the firmware will not consume LLDPDU
and cause them to be sent up the stack.
Alan adds a mechanism for detecting/storing the flag for processing of
LLDP packets by the firmware, so that its current state is persistent
across reboots/reloads of the driver.
Avinash fixes kdump with i40e due to resource constraints. We were
enabling VMDq and iWARP when we just have a single CPU, which was
starving kdump for the lack of IRQs.
Jake adds support to program the fragmented IPv4 input set PCTYPE.
Fixed the reported masks to properly report that the entire field is
masked, since we had accidentally swapped the mask values for the IPv4
addresses with the L4 port numbers.

pull-request: bpf-next 2018-01-26
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
The main changes are:
1) A number of extensions to tcp-bpf, from Lawrence.
- direct R or R/W access to many tcp_sock fields via bpf_sock_ops
- passing up to 3 arguments to bpf_sock_ops functions
- tcp_sock field bpf_sock_ops_cb_flags for controlling callbacks
- optionally calling bpf_sock_ops program when RTO fires
- optionally calling bpf_sock_ops program when packet is retransmitted
- optionally calling bpf_sock_ops program when TCP state changes
- access to tclass and sk_txhash
- new selftest
2) div/mod exception handling, from Daniel.
One of the ugly leftovers from the early eBPF days is that div/mod
operations based on registers have a hard-coded src_reg == 0 test
in the interpreter as well as in JIT code generators that would
return from the BPF program with exit code 0. This was basically
adopted from cBPF interpreter for historical reasons.
There are multiple reasons why this is very suboptimal and prone
to bugs. To name one: the return code mapping for such abnormal
program exit of 0 does not always match with a suitable program
type's exit code mapping. For example, '0' in tc means action 'ok'
where the packet gets passed further up the stack, which is just
undesirable for such cases (e.g. when implementing policy) and
also does not match with other program types.
After considering _four_ different ways to address the problem,
we adapt the same behavior as on some major archs like ARMv8:
X div 0 results in 0, and X mod 0 results in X. aarch64 and
aarch32 ISA do not generate any traps or otherwise aborts
of program execution for unsigned divides.
Given the options, it seems the most suitable from
all of them, also since major archs have similar schemes in
place. Given this is all in the realm of undefined behavior,
we still have the option to adapt if deemed necessary.
3) sockmap sample refactoring, from John.
4) lpm map get_next_key fixes, from Yonghong.
5) test cleanups, from Alexei and Prashant.

10GbE Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates 2018-01-26
This series contains updates to ixgbe and ixgbevf.
Emil updates ixgbevf to match ixgbe functionality, starting with the
consolidating of functions that represent logical steps in the receive
process so we can later update them more easily. Updated ixgbevf to
only synchronize the length of the frame, which will typically be the
MTU or smaller. Updated the VF driver to use the length of the packet
instead of the DD status bit to determine if a new descriptor is ready
to be processed, which saves on reads and we can save time on
initialization. Added support for DMA_ATTR_SKIP_CPU_SYNC/WEAK_ORDERING
to help improve performance on some platforms. Updated the VF driver to
do bulk updates of the page reference count instead of just incrementing
it by one reference at a time. Updated the VF driver to only go through
the region of the receive ring that was designated to be cleaned up,
rather than process the entire ring.
Colin Ian King adds the use of ARRAY_SIZE() on various arrays.
Miroslav Lichvar fixes an issue where ethtool was reporting timestamping
filters unsupported for X550, which is incorrect.
Paul adds support for reporting 5G link speed for some devices.

||.

First patch moves existing gateway validation into helper. The onlink

makes ip6_route_info_create long enough.
Second patch makes the table id and lookup flag an option to
ip6_nh_lookup_table. onlink check needs to verify the gateway without
the RT6_LOOKUP_F_IFACE flag and PBR with VRF means the table id can
vary between the table the route is inserted and the VRF the egress
device is enslaved to.
Third patch adds support for RTNH_F_ONLINK.

use tc_cls_can_offload_and_chain0() throughout the drivers
This set makes all drivers use a new tc_cls_can_offload_and_chain0()
helper which will set extack in case TC hw offload flag is disabled.
I chose to keep the new helper which also looks at the chain but
renamed it more appropriately. The rationale being that most drivers
don't accept chains other than 0 and since we have to pass extack
to the helper we can as well pass the entire struct tc_cls_common_offload
and perform the most common checks.
This code makes the assumption that type_data in the callback can
be interpreted as struct tc_cls_common_offload, i.e. the real offload
structure has common part as the first member. This allows us to
make the check once for all classifier types if driver supports
more than one.
v1:
- drop the type validation in nfp and netdevsim.
v2:
- reorder checks in patch 1;
- split other changes from patch 1;
- add the i40e patch in;
- add one more test case - for chain 0 extack.

100GbE Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates 2018-01-24
This series contains updates to fm10k only.
Alex fixes MACVLAN offload for fm10k, where we were not seeing unicast
packets being received because we did not correctly configure the
default VLAN ID for the port and defaulting to 0.
Jake cleans up unnecessary parenthesis in a couple of "if" statements.
Fixed the driver to stop adding VLAN 0 into the VLAN table, since it
would cause the VLAN table to be inconsistent between the PF and VF.
Also fixed an issue where we were assuming that VLAN 1 is enabled when
the default VLAN ID is not set, so resolve by not requesting any filters
for the default_vid if it has not yet been assigned.
Ngai fixes an issue which was generating a dmesg regarding unbale to
kill a particular VLAN ID for the device. This is due to
ndo_vlan_rx_kill_vid() exits with an error and the handler for this ndo
is fm10k_update_vid() which exits prematurely under PF VLAN management.
So to resolve, we must check the VLAN update action type before exiting
fm10k_update_vid(), and act appropriately based on the action type.
Also corrected code comment typos.

1GbE Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates 2018-01-24
This series contains updates to igb and e1000e only.
Corinna Vinschen implements the ability to set the VF MAC to
00:00:00:00:00:00 via RTM_SETLINK on the PF, to prevent receiving
"invlaid argument" when libvirt attempts to restore the MAC address back
to its original state of 00:00:00:00:00:00.
Zhang Shengju adds a new function igb_get_max_rss_queues() to get the
maxium number of RSS queues and to reduce code duplication.
Matt fixes an issue with e1000e where when setting HTHREST, we should
only be setting bit 8. Also added a dev_info() message to alert when
C-states have been disabled, to help in debugging.
Jesus adds code comments to clarify the idlescope configuration
constraints.
Lyude Paul fixes a kernel crash on hotplug of igb, by checking to ensure
that we are in the process of dismantling the netdev on hotplug events.
Markus Elfring removes a duplicate message for a memory allocation
failure.
Daniel Hua fixes an issue where transmit timestamps will stop being put
into the socket when link is repeatedly up/down due to TSYNCTXCTL's TXTT
bit (Transmit timestamp valid bit) not clearing in the timeout logic of
ptp_tx_work(), which in turn causes no new timestamp to be loaded to the
TXSTMP register.

net: sched: propagate extack to cls offloads on destroy and only with skip_sw
This series some of Jiri's comments and the fact that today drivers
may produce extack even if there is no skip_sw flag (meaning the
driver failure is not really a problem), and warning messages will
only confuse the users.
First patch propagates extack to destroy as requested by Jiri, extack
is then propagated to the driver callback for each classifier. I chose
not to provide the extack on error paths. As a rule of thumb it seems
best to keep the extack of the condition which caused the error. E.g.
err = this_will_fail(arg, extack);
if (err) {
undo_things(arg, NULL /* don't pass extack */);
return err;
}
Note that NL_SET_ERR_MSG() will ignore the message if extack is NULL.
I was pondering whether we should make NL_SET_ERR_MSG() refuse to
overwrite the msg, but there seem to be cases in the tree where extack
is set like this:
err = this_will_fail(arg, extack);
if (err) {
undo_things(arg, NULL /* don't pass extack */);
NL_SET_ERR_MSG(extack, "extack is set after undo call :/");
return err;
}
I think not passing extack to undo calls is reasonable.

40GbE Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates 2018-01-23
This series contains updates to i40e and i40evf only.
Pawel enables FlatNVM support on x722 devices by allowing nvmupdate tool
to configure the preservation flags in the AdminQ command.
Mitch fixes a potential divide by zero error when DCB is enabled and
the firmware fails to configure the VSI, so check for this state.
Fixed a bug where the driver could fail to adhere to ETS bandwidth
allocations if 8 traffic classes were configured on the switch.
Sudheer fixes a potential deadlock by avoiding to call
flush_schedule_work() in i40evf_remove(), since cancel_work_sync()
and cancel_delayed_work_sync() already cleans up necessary work items.
Fixed an issue with the problematic detection and recovery from
hung queues in the PF which was causing lost interrupts. This is done
by triggering a software interrupt so that interrupts are forced on
and if we are already in napi_poll and an interrupt fires, napi_poll
will not be rescheduled and the interrupt is lost.
Avinash fixes an issue in the VF where is was possible to issue a
reset_task while the device is currently being removed.
Michal fixes an issue occurring while calling i40e_led_set() with
the blink parameter set to true, which was causing the activity LED
instead of the link LED to blink for port identification.
Shiraz changes the client interface to not call client close/open on
netdev down/up events, since this causes a lot of thrash that is
not needed. Instead, disable the PE TCP-ENA flag during a netdev
down event and re-enable on a netdev up event, since this blocks all
TCP traffic to the RDMA protocol engine.
Alan fixes an issue which was causing a potential transmit hang by
ignoring the PF link up message if the VF state is not yet in the
RUNNING state.
Amritha fixes the channel VSI recreation during the reset flow to
reconfigure the transmit rings and the queue context associated with
the channel VSI.

10GbE Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates 2018-01-23
This series contains updates to ixgbe only.
Shannon Nelson provides an implementation of the ipsec hardware offload
feature for the ixgbe driver for these devices: x540, x550, 82599.
The ixgbe NICs support ipsec offload for 1024 Rx and 1024 Tx Security
Associations (SAs), using up to 128 inbound IP addresses, and using the
rfc4106(gcm(aes)) encryption. This code does not yet support checksum
offload, or TSO in conjunction with the ipsec offload - those will be
added in the future.
This code shows improvements in both packet throughput and CPU utilization.
For example, here are some quicky numbers that show the magnitude of the
performance gain on a single run of "iperf -c <dest>" with the ipsec
offload on both ends of a point-to-point connection:
9.4 Gbps - normal case
7.6 Gbps - ipsec with offload
343 Mbps - ipsec no offload

GEHC Bx50 Switch Support
This adds support for the internal switch found in GE Healthcare
B450v3, B650v3 and B850v3. All devices use a GPIO bitbanged MDIO
bus to communicate with the switch and a PCIe based network card
for exchanging network data. The cpu network data link requires,
that the switch's internal phy interface is enabled, so support
for that is added by the first patch in this series.
The patch series is based on v4.15-rc8.
Changes since PATCHv4:
* Introduce dsa_port_link_(un)register_of and mark the fixed
variant static.
* Update patch description to describe the phy<->phy connection
from i210 to the Marvell switch
Changes since PATCHv3:
* Enable the phy in dsa_port_setup() instead of abusing the
fixed link setup function
Changes since PATCHv2:
* Add phy nodes to switch in bx50.dtsi and reference them
from switch ports
* Enable cpu-port's phy based on 'phy-handle' instead of 'phy-mode'
Changes since PATCHv1:
* Use 'marvell,mv88e6085' instead of introducing compatible
string for mv88e6240.
* Fix indention of DT nodes
* Only enable 'cpu' phy, if explicitly set to "internal".

v4:
- rebase on top of Alex's changes.
---
Quentin says:
This series tries to improve user experience when eBPF hardware offload
hits error paths at load time. In particular, it introduces netlink
extended ack support in the nfp driver.
To that aim, transmission of the pointer to the extack object is piped
through the `change()` operation of the existing classifiers (patch 1 to
6). Then it is used for TC offload in the nfp driver (patch 8) and in
netdevsim (patch 9, selftest in patch 10). Patch 7 adds a helper to handle
extack messages in the core when TC offload is disabled on the net device.
For completeness extack is propagated for classifiers other than cls_bpf,
but it's up to the drivers to make use of it.

ibmvnic: Reset behavior fixes
This patchset fixes a number of issues related to ibmvnic reset uncovered
from testing new Power9 machines with Everglades adapters and the new
functionality to change mtu and other parameters in the driver.
Changes since v1:
-In patch 1/3, added the line to free the long term buffers before
allocating a new one. This change inadvertently uncovered the problem
that the number of queues can change after a failover as well. To fix
this, we check whether or not the number of queues has changed in
do_reset and if they have, we do a full release and init of the queues.
-In patch 1/3, added variables to the adapter struct to track how
many rx/tx pools have actually been allocated and modify the release
pools routines to use these values rather than the possibly incorrect
req_rx/tx_queues values.

sparc64: Driver for Oracle Data Analytics Accelerator
v2:
Revised example code and updated documentation
New version of Hypervisor API specification
Recent Oracle Sparc processors (M7 and M8) have a coprocessor which
lives on the cpu chip. The coprocessor is called DAX (Data Analytics
Accelerator), and is controlled via sun4v hypercalls. The programmatic
interface to the coprocessor is somewhat unorthodox, and all commands
and parameters are documented in detail in dax-hv-api.txt. The driver
API is described in oracle-dax.txt, which has been expanded with new
example code along with detailed explanations to demonstrate how user
and kernel code can use the capabilities of DAX. Those who wish to
use the coprocessor in the kernel will need to construct their own
command blocks to submit, as no higher level services are provided.
Note that it is expected that general use of the coprocessor will go
through the companion userspace library, which has been published
under UPL at:
https://oss.oracle.com/git/gitweb.cgi?p=libdax.git
This library is a comprehensive collection of higher level functions
along with tests, documentation, and code examples. The format of the
command control blocks is described in this library as well. Though
the primary purpose of the coprocessor is to accelerate data analytics
operations, it may be used for any suitable purpose.
The machine descriptor identifies the device as "dax", and all
internal documentation refers to it as "dax". But since the term "dax"
already has other meanings and uses in Linux, we call this driver
"oradax".
