## qt.qpa.plugin: Could not find the Qt platform plugin 'wayland' error
^[Top](#top)
If you run into this error message when running on modern Ubuntu which is using the wayland display
you most likely have not installed these following packages.
Solution: Install or reinstall the required Qt Wayland packages.
```
Debian / Ubuntu based *nix
sudo apt install qt5-qtwayland --< if QT 5
sudo apt install qt6-qtwayland --< if QT 6
Arch *nix
pacman -S qt5-wayland
pacman -S qt6-wayland
```
Alternatively you could set QT_QPA_PLATFORM environment to either wayland or xcb
```
export QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland
export QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb
```
