Chris reported that commit5f6bd380c7("sched/rt: Remove default bandwidth control") caused a significant dip in his favourite benchmark of the day. Simply disabling dl_server cured things. His workload hammers the 0->1, 1->0 transitions, and the dl_server_{start,stop}() overhead kills it -- fairly obviously a bad idea in hind sight and all that. Change things around to only disable the dl_server when there has not been a fair task around for a whole period. Since the default period is 1 second, this ensures the benchmark never trips this, overhead gone. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the reStructuredText markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
