After commit94d7d92339("mm: abstract the vma_merge()/split_vma() pattern for mprotect() et al."), if vma_modify_flags() return error, the vma is set to an error code. This will lead to an invalid prev be returned. Generally this shouldn't matter as the caller should treat an error as indicating state is now invalidated, however unfortunately apply_mlockall_flags() does not check for errors and assumes that mlock_fixup() correctly maintains prev even if an error were to occur. This patch fixes that assumption. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the reStructuredText markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
