Ira Weiny e1b5186810 Documentation/auxiliary_bus: Move the text into the code
The code and documentation are more difficult to maintain when kept
separately. This is further compounded when the standard structure
documentation infrastructure is not used.

Move the documentation into the code, use the standard documentation
infrastructure, add current documented functions, and reference the text
in the rst file.

Ira Weiny cb2ba75935 Documentation/auxiliary_bus: Update Auxiliary device lifespan
It was unclear when the auxiliary device objects were to be free'ed by
the parent (registering) driver.

Also there are some patterns like using devm_add_action_or_reset() which
are helpful to mention to those using the interface to ensure they don't
double free or miss freeing the auxiliary devices.

Ira Weiny b247703873 Documentation/auxiliary_bus: Clarify auxiliary_device creation
The documentation for creating an auxiliary device is a 3 step not a 2
step process. Specifically the requirements of setting the name, id,
dev.release, and dev.parent fields was not clear as a precursor to the '2
step' process documented.

Clarify by declaring this a 3 step process starting with setting the
fields of struct auxiliary_device correctly.

Also add some sample code and tie the change into the rest of the
documentation.

Jiri Slaby 7e6c0b22f4 tty: move tty_ldisc docs to new Documentation/tty/
Create a new directory in Documentation/ called tty. We will create more
documents in it in the next patches, so let's have this one in the very
same place.

Change title accordingly and all the headers. This is the way what other
documents look like in this directory in the next patches. So make this
unified.

And add a TOC.

Linus Torvalds dd72945c43 Merge tag 'cxl-for-5.16' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/cxl/cxl
Pull cxl updates from Dan Williams:
"More preparation and plumbing work in the CXL subsystem.

From an end user perspective the highlight here is lighting up the CXL
Persistent Memory related commands (label read / write) with the
  generic ioctl() front-end in LIBNVDIMM.

Otherwise, the ability to instantiate new persistent and volatile
memory regions is still on track for v5.17.

  Summary:

   - Fix support for platforms that do not enumerate every ACPI0016 (CXL
Host Bridge) in the CHBS (ACPI Host Bridge Structure).

   - Introduce a common pci_find_dvsec_capability() helper, clean up
open coded implementations in various drivers.

   - Add 'cxl_test' for regression testing CXL subsystem ABIs.
'cxl_test' is a module built from tools/testing/cxl/ that mocks up
a CXL topology to augment the nascent support for emulation of CXL
     devices in QEMU.

   - Convert libnvdimm to use the uuid API.

   - Complete the definition of CXL namespace labels in libnvdimm.

   - Tunnel libnvdimm label operations from nd_ioctl() back to the CXL
mailbox driver. Enable 'ndctl {read,write}-labels' for CXL.

   - Continue to sort and refactor functionality into distinct driver
and core-infrastructure buckets. For example, mailbox handling is
now a generic core capability consumed by the PCI and cxl_test
     drivers"

Linus Torvalds f73cd9c951 Merge tag 'thermal-5.16-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rafael/linux-pm
Pull thermal control updates from Rafael Wysocki:
"These extend the thermal trip point crossing notifications sent via
netlink to contain the temperature causing the trip point to be
crossed, deprecate the user space thermal governor, add new DT
bindings to drivers, move ABI documentation to Documentation/ABI, fix
assorted issues and clean up code.

  Specifics:

   - Constify a variable in thermal MMIO driver (Rikard Falkeborn).

   - Add the current temperature in the netlink message when crossing a
trip point in order to prevent useless back and forth reading from
     userspace (Daniel Lezcano).

   - Add support for the 'HC' variant on PM8998 PMIC in order to support
VADC channels on recent QCom boards (Bjorn Andersson).

   - Add support for calibration values from hardware when they are
     fused (Niklas Söderlund).

   - Fix NULL pointer dereference in the thermal_release callback when
an error occurs in the thermal_zone_device_register() (Yuanzheng
     Song).

   - Fix use-after-free in __thermal_cooling_device_register() in the
     error path (Ziyang Xuan).

   - Fix compilation of the LMh driver when CONFIG_QCOM_SCM is not set
     (Jackie Liu).

   - Add timeout when reading a register that can block forever in
certain circumstances in the tsens driver (Ansuel Smith).

   - Add DT binding for the reset lines and use them in the rockchip
     sensor driver (Johan Jonker).

   - Add new uniphier NX1 SoC temperature sensor (Kunihiko Hayashi).

   - Save and restore the TCC value in the int340x driver (Antoine
     Tenart).

   - Deprecate the writability of the cooling device state sysfs file
and the user space governor (Daniel Lezcano).

   - Delete bogus length check in int340x (Dan Carpenter).

   - Use bitmap_zalloc/bitmap_free when applicable in intel_powerclamp
     (Christophe JAILLET).

   - Move thermal ABI documentation to Documentation/ABI (Mauro Carvalho
     Chehab)"
