Changelog

All notable changes to QDL, mirroring the GitHub releases. Each entry lists the pull requests merged for that release.

This project uses vMAJOR.MINOR tags. Releases prior to v2.4 were tagged but not published as GitHub releases; see the git tags for their history.

v2.8 - 2026-08-02

Highlights

• One qdl binary: the separate qdl-ks and qdl-ramdump tools are folded in as subcommands (#250)
• New chipinfo and reset verbs for reading chip identity and resetting the device without flashing (#280, #281)
• nbdkit plugin exposing a device LUN as a block device (#283)
• Faster, leaner skipblock flashing: short/offset files can be skipped, digest memory is bounded, progress is reported (#256, #264, #265)
• Hardening sweep across firehose, sahara, GPT and program parsing of device-controlled data (#284, #270)
• Improved crash-mode/ramdump device detection (#274, #286)
• EDL devices are identified by their vendor-specific interface signature instead of a product-id allowlist, so the libusb and Windows QUD backends now share one notion of an EDL device (#287, #289)

Breaking changes

• qdl-ks and qdl-ramdump no longer exist as standalone binaries; scripts and packaging must switch to qdl ks ... / the ramdump verb (#250)
• Mixing input XML files with command verbs on one invocation is now rejected instead of silently accepted (#282)
