David CarlierandJakub Kicinski 4eb82ba543 net: devmem: reject dma-buf bind with non-page-aligned size or SG length
net_devmem_bind_dmabuf() trusts dmabuf->size and sg_dma_len() to be
PAGE_SIZE multiples without checking:

  - tx_vec is sized dmabuf->size / PAGE_SIZE, and
    net_devmem_get_niov_at() only bounds-checks virt_addr < dmabuf->size
    before indexing tx_vec[virt_addr / PAGE_SIZE]. With size =
    N*PAGE_SIZE + r (1 <= r < PAGE_SIZE), sendmsg() at iov_base =
    N*PAGE_SIZE passes the bound check and reads tx_vec[N] -- one past.

  - owner->area.num_niovs = len / PAGE_SIZE while gen_pool_add_owner()
    covers the full byte len, so a non-page-multiple non-final sg
    desyncs num_niovs from the gen_pool region for every later sg, on
    both RX and TX.

dma-buf does not require page-aligned sizes, so the bind path has to
enforce what its own indexing assumes. Reject both with -EINVAL.

The size check is TX-only (only tx_vec is sized off dmabuf->size); the
SG-length check covers both directions.

Bobby EshlemanandJakub Kicinski 1abe839b34 net: devmem: support TX over NETMEM_TX_NO_DMA devices
When a netkit virtual device leases queues from a physical NIC, devmem
TX bindings created on the netkit device must still result in the dmabuf
being mapped for dma by the physical device. This patch accomplishes
this by teaching the bind handler to search for the underlying
DMA-capable device by looking it up via leased rx queues. The function
netdev_find_netmem_tx_dev(), used for finding the underlying DMA-capable
device, can be extended to support other non-netkit NETMEM_TX_NO_DMA
devices in the future if needed.

Additionally, this patch extends validate_xmit_unreadable_skb() to
support the netkit case, where the skb is validated twice: once on the
netkit guest device and again on the physical NIC after BPF redirect or
ip forwarding.

Jakub Kicinski 735a309b4b net: add net_iov_init() and use it to initialize ->page_type
Commit db359fccf2 ("mm: introduce a new page type for page pool in
page type") added a page_type field to struct net_iov at the same
offset as struct page::page_type, so that page_pool_set_pp_info() can
call __SetPageNetpp() uniformly on both pages and net_iovs.

The page-type API requires the field to hold the UINT_MAX "no type"
sentinel before a type can be set; for real struct page that invariant
is established by the page allocator on free. struct net_iov is not
allocated through the page allocator, so the field is left as zero
(io_uring zcrx, which uses __GFP_ZERO) or as slab garbage (devmem,
which uses kvmalloc_objs() without zeroing). When the page pool then
calls page_pool_set_pp_info() on a freshly-bound niov,
__SetPageNetpp()'s VM_BUG_ON_PAGE(page->page_type != UINT_MAX) fires
and the kernel BUGs. Triggered in selftests by io_uring zcrx setup
through the fbnic queue restart path:

The same path is reachable through devmem dmabuf binding via

Add a net_iov_init() helper that stamps ->owner, ->type and the
->page_type sentinel, and use it from both the devmem and io_uring
zcrx niov init loops.

Bobby EshlemanandJakub Kicinski 40bf00ec2e net: devmem: use READ_ONCE/WRITE_ONCE on binding->dev
binding->dev is protected on the write-side in
mp_dmabuf_devmem_uninstall() against concurrent writes, but due to the
concurrent bare reads in net_devmem_get_binding() and
validate_xmit_unreadable_skb() it should be wrapped in a
READ_ONCE/WRITE_ONCE pair to make sure no compiler optimizations play
with the underlying register in unforeseen ways.

Doesn't present a critical bug because the known compiler optimizations
don't result in bad behavior. There is no tearing on u64, and load
omissions/invented loads would only break if additional binding->dev
references were inlined together (they aren't right now).

This just more strictly follows the linux memory model (i.e.,
"Lock-Protected Writes With Lockless Reads" in
tools/memory-model/Documentation/access-marking.txt).

Kees Cook 69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

Bobby EshlemanandJakub Kicinski 5c024716f5 net: devmem: convert binding refcount to percpu_ref
Convert net_devmem_dmabuf_binding refcount from refcount_t to percpu_ref
to optimize common-case reference counting on the hot path.

The typical devmem workflow involves binding a dmabuf to a queue
(acquiring the initial reference on binding->ref), followed by
high-volume traffic where every skb fragment acquires a reference.
Eventually traffic stops and the unbind operation releases the initial
reference. Additionally, the high traffic hot path is often multi-core.
This access pattern is ideal for percpu_ref as the first and last
reference during bind/unbind normally book-ends activity in the hot
path.

__net_devmem_dmabuf_binding_free becomes the percpu_ref callback invoked
when the last reference is dropped.

Shivaji KantandJakub Kicinski 6a2108c780 net: devmem: refresh devmem TX dst in case of route invalidation
The zero-copy Device Memory (Devmem) transmit path
relies on the socket's route cache (`dst_entry`) to
validate that the packet is being sent via the network
device to which the DMA buffer was bound.

However, this check incorrectly fails and returns `-ENODEV`
if the socket's route cache entry (`dst`) is merely missing
or expired (`dst == NULL`). This scenario is observed during
network events, such as when flow steering rules are deleted,
leading to a temporary route cache invalidation.

This patch fixes -ENODEV error for `net_devmem_get_binding()`
by doing the following:

1. It attempts to rebuild the route via `rebuild_header()`
if the route is initially missing (`dst == NULL`). This
allows the TCP/IP stack to recover from transient route
cache misses.
2. It uses `rcu_read_lock()` and `dst_dev_rcu()` to safely
access the network device pointer (`dst_dev`) from the
route, preventing use-after-free conditions if the
device is concurrently removed.
3. It maintains the critical safety check by validating
that the retrieved destination device (`dst_dev`) is
exactly the device registered in the Devmem binding
(`binding->dev`).

These changes prevent unnecessary ENODEV failures while
maintaining the critical safety requirement that the
Devmem resources are only used on the bound network device.

(a) netdev_nl_sock_priv_destroy() is called when devmem TCP socket is
    closed.
(b) page_pool_destroy() is called when the interface is down.
(c) mp_ops->uninstall() is called when an interface is unregistered.
(d) There is no scenario in mp_ops->uninstall() is called before
    page_pool_destroy().
    Because unregister_netdevice_many_notify() closes interfaces first
    and then calls mp_ops->uninstall().
(e) netdev_nl_sock_priv_destroy() accesses struct net_device to acquire
    netdev_lock().
    But if the interface module has already been removed, net_device
    pointer is invalid, so it causes kernel panic.

In summary, there are only 3 possible scenarios.
 A. sk close -> pp destroy -> uninstall.
 B. pp destroy -> sk close -> uninstall.
 C. pp destroy -> uninstall -> sk close.

Case C is a kernel panic scenario.

In order to fix this problem, It makes mp_dmabuf_devmem_uninstall() set
binding->dev to NULL.
It indicates an bound net_device was unregistered.

It makes netdev_nl_sock_priv_destroy() do not acquire netdev_lock()
if binding->dev is NULL.

A new binding->lock is added to protect a dev of a binding.
So, lock ordering is like below.
 priv->lock
 netdev_lock(dev)
 binding->lock

Tests:
Scenario A:
    ./ncdevmem -s 192.168.1.4 -c 192.168.1.2 -f $interface -l -p 8000 \

Mina AlmasryandPaolo Abeni bd61848900 net: devmem: Implement TX path
Augment dmabuf binding to be able to handle TX. Additional to all the RX
binding, we also create tx_vec needed for the TX path.

Provide API for sendmsg to be able to send dmabufs bound to this device:

- Provide a new dmabuf_tx_cmsg which includes the dmabuf to send from.
- MSG_ZEROCOPY with SCM_DEVMEM_DMABUF cmsg indicates send from dma-buf.

Devmem is uncopyable, so piggyback off the existing MSG_ZEROCOPY
implementation, while disabling instances where MSG_ZEROCOPY falls back
to copying.

We additionally pipe the binding down to the new
zerocopy_fill_skb_from_devmem which fills a TX skb with net_iov netmems
instead of the traditional page netmems.

We also special case skb_frag_dma_map to return the dma-address of these
dmabuf net_iovs instead of attempting to map pages.

The TX path may release the dmabuf in a context where we cannot wait.
This happens when the user unbinds a TX dmabuf while there are still
references to its netmems in the TX path. In that case, the netmems will
be put_netmem'd from a context where we can't unmap the dmabuf, Resolve
this by making __net_devmem_dmabuf_binding_free schedule_work'd.

Based on work by Stanislav Fomichev <sdf@fomichev.me>. A lot of the meat
of the implementation came from devmem TCP RFC v1[1], which included the
TX path, but Stan did all the rebasing on top of netmem/net_iov.

Mina AlmasryandPaolo Abeni e9f3d61db5 net: add get_netmem/put_netmem support
Currently net_iovs support only pp ref counts, and do not support a
page ref equivalent.

This is fine for the RX path as net_iovs are used exclusively with the
pp and only pp refcounting is needed there. The TX path however does not
use pp ref counts, thus, support for get_page/put_page equivalent is
needed for netmem.

Support get_netmem/put_netmem. Check the type of the netmem before
passing it to page or net_iov specific code to obtain a page ref
equivalent.

For dmabuf net_iovs, we obtain a ref on the underlying binding. This
ensures the entire binding doesn't disappear until all the net_iovs have
been put_netmem'ed. We do not need to track the refcount of individual
dmabuf net_iovs as we don't allocate/free them from a pool similar to
what the buddy allocator does for pages.

This code is written to be extensible by other net_iov implementers.
get_netmem/put_netmem will check the type of the netmem and route it to
the correct helper:

pages -> [get|put]_page()
dmabuf net_iovs -> net_devmem_[get|put]_net_iov()
new net_iovs ->	new helpers

sure that io_uring ZC also benefits from them.

While at it rename the queue ID variable to rxq_idx in

The XArray insertion is reordered after the netdev_rx_queue_restart()
