Add selftests to verify the firmware upload mechanism. These test
include simple firmware uploads as well as upload cancellation and
error injection. The test creates three firmware devices and verifies
that they all work correctly and independently.

Linus Torvalds 0674324b16 Merge tag 'linux-kselftest-next-5.10-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/shuah/linux-kselftest
Pull kselftest updates from Shuah Khan:

 - speed up headers_install done during selftest build

 - add generic make nesting support

 - add support to select individual tests:

Selftests build/install generates run_kselftest.sh script to run
selftests on a target system. Currently the script doesn't have
support for selecting individual tests. Add support for it.

With this enhancement, user can select test collections (or tests)
   individually. e.g:

      run_kselftest.sh -c seccomp -t timers:posix_timers -t timers:nanosleep

Additionally adds a way to list all known tests with "-l", usage with
"-h", and perform a dry run without running tests with "-n".

Topi MiettinenandGreg Kroah-Hartman 901cff7cb9 firmware_loader: load files from the mount namespace of init
I have an experimental setup where almost every possible system
service (even early startup ones) runs in separate namespace, using a
dedicated, minimal file system. In process of minimizing the contents
of the file systems with regards to modules and firmware files, I
noticed that in my system, the firmware files are loaded from three
different mount namespaces, those of systemd-udevd, init and
systemd-networkd. The logic of the source namespace is not very clear,
it seems to depend on the driver, but the namespace of the current
process is used.

So, this patch tries to make things a bit clearer and changes the
loading of firmware files only from the mount namespace of init. This
may also improve security, though I think that using firmware files as
attack vector could be too impractical anyway.

Later, it might make sense to make the mount namespace configurable,
for example with a new file in /proc/sys/kernel/firmware_config/. That
would allow a dedicated file system only for firmware files and those
need not be present anywhere else. This configurability would make
more sense if made also for kernel modules and /sbin/modprobe. Modules
are already loaded from init namespace (usermodehelper uses kthreadd
namespace) except when directly loaded by systemd-udevd.

Instead of using the mount namespace of the current process to load
firmware files, use the mount namespace of init process.

Dan RueandShuah Khan f70b472e93 selftests: firmware: remove use of non-standard diff -Z option
"diff -Z" is used to trim the trailing whitespace when comparing the
loaded firmware file with the source firmware file. However, per the
comment in the source code, -Z should not be necessary. In testing, the
input and output files are identical.

Additionally, -Z is not a standard option and is not available in
environments such as busybox. When -Z is not supported, diff fails with
a usage error, which is suppressed, but then causes read_firmwares() to
exit with a false failure message.

When firmware test(s) get skipped because of unmet dependencies and/or
