Currently, the driver's device private data is allocated and initialized
from driver core code called from bus abstractions after the driver's
probe() callback returned the corresponding initializer.
Similarly, the driver's device private data is dropped within the
remove() callback of bus abstractions after calling the remove()
callback of the corresponding driver.
However, commit 6f61a2637a ("rust: device: introduce
Device::drvdata()") introduced an accessor for the driver's device
private data for a Device<Bound>, i.e. a device that is currently bound
to a driver.
Obviously, this is in conflict with dropping the driver's device private
data in remove(), since a device can not be considered to be fully
unbound after remove() has finished:
We also have to consider registrations guarded by devres - such as IRQ
or class device registrations - which are torn down after remove() in
devres_release_all().
Thus, it can happen that, for instance, a class device or IRQ callback
still calls Device::drvdata(), which then runs concurrently to remove()
(which sets dev->driver_data to NULL and drops the driver's device
private data), before devres_release_all() started to tear down the
corresponding registration. This is because devres guarded registrations
can, as expected, access the corresponding Device<Bound> that defines
their scope.
In C it simply is the driver's responsibility to ensure that its device
private data is freed after e.g. an IRQ registration is unregistered.
Typically, C drivers achieve this by allocating their device private data
with e.g. devm_kzalloc() before doing anything else, i.e. before e.g.
registering an IRQ with devm_request_threaded_irq(), relying on the
reverse order cleanup of devres.
Technically, we could do something similar in Rust. However, the
resulting code would be pretty messy:
In Rust we have to differentiate between allocated but uninitialized
memory and initialized memory in the type system. Thus, we would need to
somehow keep track of whether the driver's device private data object
has been initialized (i.e. probe() was successful and returned a valid
initializer for this memory) and conditionally call the destructor of
the corresponding object when it is freed.
This is because we'd need to allocate and register the memory of the
driver's device private data *before* it is initialized by the
initializer returned by the driver's probe() callback, because the
driver could already register devres guarded registrations within
probe() outside of the driver's device private data initializer.
Luckily there is a much simpler solution: Instead of dropping the
driver's device private data at the end of remove(), we just drop it
after the device has been fully unbound, i.e. after all devres callbacks
have been processed.
For this, we introduce a new post_unbind() callback private to the
driver-core, i.e. the callback is neither exposed to drivers, nor to bus
abstractions.
This way, the driver-core code can simply continue to conditionally
allocate the memory for the driver's device private data when the
driver's initializer is returned from probe() - no change needed - and
drop it when the driver-core code receives the post_unbind() callback.

The DriverLayout trait describes the layout of a specific driver
structure, such as `struct pci_driver` or `struct platform_driver`.
In a first step, this replaces the associated type RegType of the
RegistrationOps with the DriverLayout::DriverType associated type.

Implement the `AsBusDevice` trait for converting a `Device` reference to a
bus device reference for all bus devices.
The `AsBusDevice` trait allows abstractions to provide the bus device in
class device callbacks. It must not be used by drivers and is intended for
bus and class device abstractions only.

Currently request_irq_by_index() returns
Result<impl PinInit<irq::Registration<T>, Error> + 'a>
which may carry an error in the Result or the initializer; the same is
true for the other IRQ methods.
Use pin_init::pin_init_scope() to get rid of this redundancy.

The driver model defines the lifetime of the private data stored in (and
owned by) a bus device to be valid from when the driver is bound to a
device (i.e. from successful probe()) until the driver is unbound from
the device.
This is already taken care of by the Rust implementation of the driver
model. However, we still ask drivers to return a Result<Pin<KBox<Self>>>
from probe().
Unlike in C, where we do not have the concept of initializers, but
rather deal with uninitialized memory, drivers can just return an
impl PinInit<Self, Error> instead.
This contributes to more clarity to the fact that a driver returns it's
device private data in probe() and the Rust driver model owns the data,
manages the lifetime and - considering the lifetime - provides (safe)
accessors for the driver.
Hence, let probe() functions return an impl PinInit<Self, Error> instead
of Result<Pin<KBox<Self>>>.

These accessors can be used to retrieve a irq::Registration and
irq::ThreadedRegistration from a platform device by
index or name. Alternatively, drivers can retrieve an IrqRequest from a
bound platform device for later use.
These accessors ensure that only valid IRQ lines can ever be registered.

"Toolchain and infrastructure:
- Enable a set of Clippy lints: 'ptr_as_ptr', 'ptr_cast_constness',
'as_ptr_cast_mut', 'as_underscore', 'cast_lossless' and
'ref_as_ptr'
These are intended to avoid type casts with the 'as' operator,
which are quite powerful, into restricted variants that are less
powerful and thus should help to avoid mistakes
- Remove the 'author' key now that most instances were moved to the
plural one in the previous cycle
'kernel' crate:
- New 'bug' module: add 'warn_on!' macro which reuses the existing
'BUG'/'WARN' infrastructure, i.e. it respects the usual sysctls and

with the analogous type in the 'core' standard library. This will
take place across several cycles to make it easier. For this one,
it includes a new 'fmt' module, using upstream method names and
some other cleanups
Replace 'fmt!' with a re-export, which helps Clippy lint properly,
and clean up the found 'uninlined-format-args' instances
- 'dma' module:
- Clarify wording and be consistent in 'coherent' nomenclature
- Convert the 'read!()' and 'write!()' macros to return a 'Result'
- Add 'as_slice()', 'write()' methods in 'CoherentAllocation'
- Expose 'count()' and 'size()' in 'CoherentAllocation' and add
the corresponding type invariants
- Implement 'CoherentAllocation::dma_handle_with_offset()'
- 'time' module:
- Make 'Instant' generic over clock source. This allows the
compiler to assert that arithmetic expressions involving the
'Instant' use 'Instants' based on the same clock source
- Make 'HrTimer' generic over the timer mode. 'HrTimer' timers
take a 'Duration' or an 'Instant' when setting the expiry time,
depending on the timer mode. With this change, the compiler can
check the type matches the timer mode
- Add an abstraction for 'fsleep'. 'fsleep' is a flexible sleep
function that will select an appropriate sleep method depending
on the requested sleep time
- Avoid 64-bit divisions on 32-bit hardware when calculating
timestamps
- Seal the 'HrTimerMode' trait. This prevents users of the
'HrTimerMode' from implementing the trait on their own types
- Pass the correct timer mode ID to 'hrtimer_start_range_ns()'
- 'list' module: remove 'OFFSET' constants, allowing to remove
pointer arithmetic; now 'impl_list_item!' invokes
'impl_has_list_links!' or 'impl_has_list_links_self_ptr!'. Other
simplifications too
- 'types' module: remove 'ForeignOwnable::PointedTo' in favor of a
constant, which avoids exposing the type of the opaque pointer, and
require 'into_foreign' to return non-null
Remove the 'Either<L, R>' type as well. It is unused, and we want
to encourage the use of custom enums for concrete use cases
- 'sync' module: implement 'Borrow' and 'BorrowMut' for 'Arc' types
to allow them to be used in generic APIs
- 'alloc' module: implement 'Borrow' and 'BorrowMut' for 'Box<T, A>';
and 'Borrow', 'BorrowMut' and 'Default' for 'Vec<T, A>'
- 'Opaque' type: add 'cast_from' method to perform a restricted cast
that cannot change the inner type and use it in callers of
'container_of!'. Rename 'raw_get' to 'cast_into' to match it
- 'rbtree' module: add 'is_empty' method
- 'sync' module: new 'aref' submodule to hold 'AlwaysRefCounted' and
'ARef', which are moved from the too general 'types' module which
we want to reduce or eventually remove. Also fix a safety comment
in 'static_lock_class'

The previous patches have added the abstractions for Resources and the
ability to map them and therefore read and write the underlying memory .
The only thing missing to make this accessible for platform devices is
to provide accessors that return instances of IoRequest<'a>. These
ensure that the resource are valid only for the lifetime of the platform
device, and that the platform device is in the Bound state.
Therefore, add these accessors. Also make it possible to retrieve
resources from platform devices in Rust using either a name or an index.

Currently, there's really only one core callback for drivers, which is
probe().
Now, this isn't entirely true, since there is also the drop() callback of
the driver type (serving as the driver's private data), which is returned
by probe() and is dropped in remove().
On the C side remove() mainly serves two purposes:
(1) Tear down the device that is operated by the driver, e.g. call bus
specific functions, write I/O memory to reset the device, etc.
(2) Free the resources that have been allocated by a driver for a
specific device.
The drop() callback mentioned above is intended to cover (2) as the Rust
idiomatic way.
However, it is partially insufficient and inefficient to cover (1)
properly, since drop() can't be called with additional arguments, such as
the reference to the corresponding device that has the correct device
context, i.e. the Core device context.
This makes it inefficient (but not impossible) to access device
resources, e.g. to write device registers, and impossible to call device
methods, which are only accessible under the Core device context.
In order to solve this, add an additional callback for (1), which we
call unbind().
The reason for calling it unbind() is that, unlike remove(), it is *only*
meant to be used to perform teardown operations on the device (1), but
*not* to release resources (2).

Extend the `platform::Driver` trait to support ACPI device matching by
adding the `ACPI_ID_TABLE` constant.
This allows Rust platform drivers to define ACPI match tables alongside
their existing OF match tables. These changes mirror the existing OF
support and allow Rust platform drivers to match devices based on ACPI
identifiers.

Provide a default value of `None` for `Driver::OF_ID_TABLE` to simplify
driver implementations.
Drivers that do not require OpenFirmware matching no longer need to
import the `of` module or define the constant explicitly.
This reduces unnecessary boilerplate and avoids pulling in unused
dependencies.

Extend the `Adapter` trait to support ACPI device identification.
This mirrors the existing Open Firmware (OF) support (`of_id_table`) and
enables Rust drivers to match and retrieve ACPI-specific device data
when `CONFIG_ACPI` is enabled.
To avoid breaking compilation, a stub implementation of `acpi_id_table()`
is added to the Platform adapter; the full implementation will be provided
in a subsequent patch.
