Linus Torvalds bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

Kees Cook 69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

Malaya Kumar RoutandRafael J. Wysocki e25348c540 PM: EM: Fix memory leak in em_create_pd() error path
When ida_alloc() fails in em_create_pd(), the function returns without
freeing the previously allocated 'pd' structure, leading to a memory leak.
The 'pd' pointer is allocated either at line 436 (for CPU devices with
cpumask) or line 442 (for other devices) using kzalloc().

Additionally, the function incorrectly returns -ENOMEM when ida_alloc()
fails, ignoring the actual error code returned by ida_alloc(), which can
fail for reasons other than memory exhaustion.

Fix both issues by:
 1. Freeing the 'pd' structure with kfree() when ida_alloc() fails
 2. Returning the actual error code from ida_alloc() instead of -ENOMEM

This ensures proper cleanup on the error path and accurate error reporting.

It is necessary to refer to a specific performance domain from a
userspace. For example, the energy model of a particular performance
domain is updated.

To this end, assign a unique ID to each performance domain to address it,
and manage them in a global linked list to look up a specific one by
matching ID. IDA is used for ID assignment, and the mutex is used to
protect the global list from concurrent access.

Note that the mutex (em_pd_list_mutex) is not supposed to hold while
holding em_pd_mutex to avoid ABBA deadlock.

Christian LoehleandRafael J. Wysocki 1ebe8f7e78 PM: EM: Fix late boot with holes in CPU topology
Commit e3f1164fc9 ("PM: EM: Support late CPUs booting and capacity
adjustment") added a mechanism to handle CPUs that come up late by
retrying when any of the `cpufreq_cpu_get()` call fails.

However, if there are holes in the CPU topology (offline CPUs, e.g.
nosmt), the first missing CPU causes the loop to break, preventing
subsequent online CPUs from being updated.

Instead of aborting on the first missing CPU policy, loop through all
and retry if any were missing.

Rafael J. Wysocki e042354147 PM: EM: Add function for registering a PD without capacity update
The intel_pstate driver manages CPU capacity changes itself and it does
not need an update of the capacity of all CPUs in the system to be
carried out after registering a PD.

Moreover, in some configurations (for instance, an SMT-capable
hybrid x86 system booted with nosmt in the kernel command line) the
em_check_capacity_update() call at the end of em_dev_register_perf_domain()
always fails and reschedules itself to run once again in 1 s, so
effectively it runs in vain every 1 s forever.

To address this, introduce a new variant of em_dev_register_perf_domain(),
called em_dev_register_pd_no_update(), that does not invoke
em_check_capacity_update(), and make intel_pstate use it instead of the
original.

Add a function for updating the Energy Model for a CPU after its
capacity has changed, which subsequently will be used by the
intel_pstate driver.

An EM_PERF_DOMAIN_ARTIFICIAL check is added to em_recalc_and_update()
to prevent it from calling em_compute_costs() for an "artificial" perf
domain with a NULL cb parameter which would cause it to crash.

Move the check of the CPU capacity currently stored in the energy model
against the arch_scale_cpu_capacity() value to em_adjust_new_capacity()
so it will be done regardless of where the latter is called from.

This will be useful when a new em_adjust_new_capacity() caller is added
subsequently.

While at it, move the pd local variable declaration in
em_check_capacity_update() into the loop in which it is used.

No intentional functional impact.

When the device is of a non-CPU type, table[i].performance won't be
initialized in the previous em_init_performance(), resulting in division
by zero when calculating costs in em_compute_costs().

Since the 'cost' algorithm is only used for EAS energy efficiency
calculations and is currently not utilized by other device drivers, we
should add the _is_cpu_device(dev) check to prevent this division-by-zero
issue.

This is because the __rcu annotation for sparse is only applicable to
pointers that need rcu_dereference() or equivalent for protection, which
basically means pointers assigned with rcu_assign_pointer().

of __rcu and using rcu_dereference_protected() where applicable.

Rafael J. Wysocki 860a731f52 PM: EM: Consify two parameters of em_dev_register_perf_domain()
Notice that em_dev_register_perf_domain() and the functions called by it
do not update objects pointed to by its cb and cpus parameters, so the
const modifier can be added to them.

This allows the return value of cpumask_of() or a pointer to a
struct em_data_callback declared as const to be passed to
em_dev_register_perf_domain() directly without explicit type
casting which is rather handy.

No intentional functional impact.

Rafael J. Wysocki a8e62726ac PM: EM: Slightly reduce em_check_capacity_update() overhead
Every iteration of the loop over all possible CPUs in
em_check_capacity_update() causes get_cpu_device() to be called twice
for the same CPU, once indirectly via em_cpu_get() and once directly.

Get rid of the indirect get_cpu_device() call by moving the direct
invocation of it earlier and using em_pd_get() instead of em_cpu_get()
to get a pd pointer for the dev one returned by it.

This also exposes the fact that dev is needed to get a pd, so the code
becomes somewhat easier to follow after it.

No functional impact.

Rafael J. Wysocki ebeeee390b PM: EM: Move sched domains rebuild function from schedutil to EM
Function sugov_eas_rebuild_sd() defined in the schedutil cpufreq governor
implements generic functionality that may be useful in other places.  In
particular, there is a plan to use it in the intel_pstate driver in the
future.

For this reason, move it from schedutil to the energy model code and
rename it to em_rebuild_sched_domains().

This also helps to get rid of some #ifdeffery in schedutil which is a
plus.

No intentional functional impact.

Lukasz LubaandRafael J. Wysocki 5609296750 PM: EM: Add min/max available performance state limits
On some devices there are HW dependencies for shared frequency and voltage
between devices. It will impact Energy Aware Scheduler (EAS) decision,
where CPUs share the voltage & frequency domain with other CPUs or devices
e.g.
 - Mid CPUs + Big CPU
 - Little CPU + L3 cache in DSU
 - some other device + Little CPUs

Detailed explanation of one example:
When the L3 cache frequency is increased, the affected Little CPUs might
run at higher voltage and frequency. That higher voltage causes higher CPU
power and thus more energy is used for running the tasks. This is
important for background running tasks, which try to run on energy
efficient CPUs.

Therefore, add performance state limits which are applied for the device
(in this case CPU). This is important on SoCs with HW dependencies
mentioned above so that the Energy Aware Scheduler (EAS) does not use
performance states outside the valid min-max range for energy calculation.

Add a function which allows to modify easily the EM after the new voltage
information is available. The device drivers for the chip can adjust
the voltage values after setup. The voltage for the same frequency in OPP
can be different due to chip binning. The voltage impacts the power usage
and the EM power values can be updated to reflect that.

The EM is used by the EAS and the em_perf_state::cost stores
pre-calculated value to avoid overhead. This patch provides the API for
device drivers to calculate the cost values properly (and not duplicate
the same code).
