Junyoung JangandAlexei Starovoitov 3ac1a467e3 bpf: Fix off-by-one boundary validation in arena direct-value access
BPF_MAP_TYPE_ARENA accepts BPF_PSEUDO_MAP_VALUE offsets at exactly
the end of the arena mapping (off == arena_size). The boundary check
in arena_map_direct_value_addr() uses `>` instead of `>=`, which
incorrectly allows a one-past-end pointer to be accepted.

Change the condition to `>=` to correctly reject offsets that fall
outside the valid arena user_vm range.

Puranjay MohanandAlexei Starovoitov 2845989f2e bpf: Validate node_id in arena_alloc_pages()
arena_alloc_pages() accepts a plain int node_id and forwards it through
the entire allocation chain without any bounds checking.

Validate node_id before passing it down the allocation chain in
arena_alloc_pages().

Alexei Starovoitov 4fddde2a73 bpf: Fix use-after-free in arena_vm_close on fork
arena_vm_open() only bumps vml->mmap_count but never registers the
child VMA in arena->vma_list. The vml->vma always points at the
parent VMA, so after parent munmap the pointer dangles. If the child
then calls bpf_arena_free_pages(), zap_pages() reads the stale
vml->vma triggering use-after-free.

Fix this by preventing the arena VMA from being inherited across
fork with VM_DONTCOPY, and preventing VMA splits via the may_split
callback.

Also reject mremap with a .mremap callback returning -EINVAL. A
same-size mremap(MREMAP_FIXED) on the full arena VMA reaches
copy_vma() through the following path:

  check_prep_vma()       - returns 0 early: new_len == old_len
                           skips VM_DONTEXPAND check
  prep_move_vma()        - vm_start == old_addr and
                           vm_end == old_addr + old_len
                           so may_split is never called
  move_vma()
    copy_vma_and_data()
      copy_vma()
        vm_area_dup()    - copies vm_private_data (vml pointer)
        vm_ops->open()   - bumps vml->mmap_count
      vm_ops->mremap()   - returns -EINVAL, rollback unmaps new VMA

The refcount ensures the rollback's arena_vm_close does not free
the vml shared with the original VMA.

Nobody except memory.c should really set that parameter to non-NULL.  So
let's just drop it and make unmap_mapping_range_vma() use

Kumar Kartikeya DwivediandAlexei Starovoitov ae51772b1e bpf: Lose const-ness of map in map_check_btf()
BPF hash map may now use the map_check_btf() callback to decide whether
to set a dtor on its bpf_mem_alloc or not. Unlike C++ where members can
opt out of const-ness using mutable, we must lose the const qualifier on
the callback such that we can avoid the ugly cast. Make the change and
adjust all existing users, and lose the comment in hashtab.c.

Linus Torvalds bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

Kees Cook 69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

Puranjay MohanandAlexei Starovoitov e66fe1bc6d bpf: arena: Reintroduce memcg accounting
When arena allocations were converted from bpf_map_alloc_pages() to
kmalloc_nolock() to support non-sleepable contexts, memcg accounting was
inadvertently lost. This commit restores proper memory accounting for
all arena-related allocations.

All arena related allocations are accounted into memcg of the process
that created bpf_arena.

Puranjay MohanandAlexei Starovoitov b8467290ed bpf: arena: make arena kfuncs any context safe
Make arena related kfuncs any context safe by the following changes:

bpf_arena_alloc_pages() and bpf_arena_reserve_pages():
Replace the usage of the mutex with a rqspinlock for range tree and use
kmalloc_nolock() wherever needed. Use free_pages_nolock() to free pages
from any context.
apply_range_set/clear_cb() with apply_to_page_range() has already made
populating the vm_area in bpf_arena_alloc_pages() any context safe.

bpf_arena_free_pages(): defer the main logic to a workqueue if it is
called from a non-sleepable context.

specialize_kfunc() is used to replace the sleepable arena_free_pages()
with bpf_arena_free_pages_non_sleepable() when the verifier detects the
call is from a non-sleepable context.

In the non-sleepable case, arena_free_pages() queues the address and the
page count to be freed to a lock-less list of struct arena_free_spans
and raises an irq_work. The irq_work handler calls schedules_work() as
it is safe to be called from irq context.  arena_free_worker() (the work
queue handler) iterates these spans and clears ptes, flushes tlb, zaps
pages, and calls __free_page().

Puranjay MohanandAlexei Starovoitov 360c35f8ff bpf: arena: use kmalloc_nolock() in place of kvcalloc()
To make arena_alloc_pages() safe to be called from any context, replace
kvcalloc() with kmalloc_nolock() so as it doesn't sleep or take any
locks. kmalloc_nolock() returns NULL for allocations larger than
KMALLOC_MAX_CACHE_SIZE, which is (PAGE_SIZE * 2) = 8KB on systems with
4KB pages. So, round down the allocation done by kmalloc_nolock to 1024
* 8 and reuse the array in a loop.

Puranjay MohanandAlexei Starovoitov c336b0b327 bpf: arena: populate vm_area without allocating memory
vm_area_map_pages() may allocate memory while inserting pages into bpf
arena's vm_area. In order to make bpf_arena_alloc_pages() kfunc
non-sleepable change bpf arena to populate pages without
allocating memory:
- at arena creation time populate all page table levels except
  the last level
- when new pages need to be inserted call apply_to_page_range() again
  with apply_range_set_cb() which will only set_pte_at() those pages and
  will not allocate memory.
- when freeing pages call apply_to_existing_page_range with
  apply_range_clear_cb() to clear the pte for the page to be removed. This
  doesn't free intermediate page table levels.

Ryan RobertsandAndrew Morton 9ac09bb9fe mm: consistently use current->mm in mm_get_unmapped_area()
mm_get_unmapped_area() is a wrapper around arch_get_unmapped_area() /
arch_get_unmapped_area_topdown(), both of which search current->mm for
some free space.  Neither take an mm_struct - they implicitly operate on
current->mm.

But the wrapper takes an mm_struct and uses it to decide whether to search
bottom up or top down.  All callers pass in current->mm for this, so
everything is working consistently.  But it feels like an accident waiting
to happen; eventually someone will call that function with a different mm,
expecting to find free space in it, but what gets returned is free space
in the current mm.

So let's simplify by removing the parameter and have the wrapper use
current->mm to decide which end to start at.  Now everything is consistent
and self-documenting.

Puranjay MohanandAlexei Starovoitov 5c5240d020 bpf: Report arena faults to BPF stderr
Begin reporting arena page faults and the faulting address to BPF
program's stderr, this patch adds support in the arm64 and x86-64 JITs,
support for other archs can be added later.

The fault handlers receive the 32 bit address in the arena region so
the upper 32 bits of user_vm_start is added to it before printing the
address. This is what the user would expect to see as this is what is
printed by bpf_printk() is you pass it an address returned by
bpf_arena_alloc_pages();

  Why:

  SLAB wrappers bind memory to a particular subsystem making it
  unavailable to the rest of the kernel. Some BPF maps in production
  consume Gbytes of preallocated memory. Top 5 in Meta: 1.5G, 1.2G,
  1.1G, 300M, 200M. Once we have kmalloc that works in any context BPF
  map preallocation won't be necessary.

  How:

  Synchronous kmalloc/page alloc stack has multiple stages going from
  fast to slow: cmpxchg16 -> slab_alloc -> new_slab -> alloc_pages ->
  rmqueue_pcplist -> __rmqueue, where rmqueue_pcplist was already
  relying on trylock.

  This set changes rmqueue_bulk/rmqueue_buddy to attempt a trylock and
  return ENOMEM if alloc_flags & ALLOC_TRYLOCK. It then wraps this
  functionality into try_alloc_pages() helper. We make sure that the
  logic is sane in PREEMPT_RT.

  End result: try_alloc_pages()/free_pages_nolock() are safe to call
  from any context.

  try_kmalloc() for any context with similar trylock approach will
  follow. It will use try_alloc_pages() when slab needs a new page.
  Though such try_kmalloc/page_alloc() is an opportunistic allocator,
  this design ensures that the probability of successful allocation of
  small objects (up to one page in size) is high.

  Even before we have try_kmalloc(), we already use try_alloc_pages() in
  BPF arena implementation and it's going to be used more extensively in
  BPF"

Ihor SolodraiandAlexei Starovoitov ea145d530a bpf: define KF_ARENA_* flags for bpf_arena kfuncs
bpf_arena_alloc_pages() and bpf_arena_free_pages() work with the
bpf_arena pointers [1], which is indicated by the __arena macro in the
kernel source code:

    #define __arena __attribute__((address_space(1)))

However currently this information is absent from the debug data in
the vmlinux binary. As a consequence, bpf_arena_* kfuncs declarations
in vmlinux.h (produced by bpftool) do not match prototypes expected by
the BPF programs attempting to use these functions.

Introduce a set of kfunc flags to mark relevant types as bpf_arena
pointers. The flags then can be detected by pahole when generating BTF
from vmlinux's DWARF, allowing it to emit corresponding BTF type tags
for the marked kfuncs.

With recently proposed BTF extension [2], these type tags will be
processed by bpftool when dumping vmlinux.h, and corresponding
compiler attributes will be added to the declarations.

Alan MaguireandAlexei Starovoitov 517e8a7835 bpf: Fix softlockup in arena_map_free on 64k page kernel
On an aarch64 kernel with CONFIG_PAGE_SIZE_64KB=y,
arena_htab tests cause a segmentation fault and soft lockup.
The same failure is not observed with 4k pages on aarch64.

It turns out arena_map_free() is calling
apply_to_existing_page_range() with the address returned by
bpf_arena_get_kern_vm_start().  If this address is not page-aligned
the code ends up calling apply_to_pte_range() with that unaligned
address causing soft lockup.

Fix it by round up GUARD_SZ to PAGE_SIZE << 1 so that the
division by 2 in bpf_arena_get_kern_vm_start() returns
a page-aligned value.

Luiz CapitulinoandAndrew Morton 6bf9b5b40a mm: alloc_pages_bulk: rename API
The previous commit removed the page_list argument from
alloc_pages_bulk_noprof() along with the alloc_pages_bulk_list() function.

Now that only the *_array() flavour of the API remains, we can do the
following renaming (along with the _noprof() ones):

  alloc_pages_bulk_array -> alloc_pages_bulk
  alloc_pages_bulk_array_mempolicy -> alloc_pages_bulk_mempolicy
