Maoyi XieandJens Axboe 3799c25709 io_uring/fdinfo: translate SqThread PID through caller's pid_ns
SQPOLL stores current->pid (init_pid_ns view) in sqd->task_pid
at thread creation. fdinfo prints it raw via
seq_printf("SqThread:\t%d\n", sq_pid). A reader inside a
non-initial pid_ns sees the host PID, not the kthread's PID in
the reader's own pid_ns.

The SQPOLL kthread is created with CLONE_THREAD and no
CLONE_NEW*, so it lives in the submitter's pid_ns. An
unprivileged user_ns + pid_ns submitter can read fdinfo and
learn the host PID of a kthread whose in-namespace PID is
different.

Reproducer (mainline 7.0, KASAN): unshare CLONE_NEWUSER |
CLONE_NEWPID | CLONE_NEWNS, mount a private /proc, then have a
grandchild that is pid 1 in the new pid_ns open an io_uring
ring with IORING_SETUP_SQPOLL. /proc/self/task lists {1, 2};
the SQPOLL kthread is pid 2. Before: fdinfo prints
SqThread = <host pid>. After: SqThread = 2.

Use task_pid_nr_ns() against the proc inode's pid_ns to compute
sq_pid, instead of reading the stored sq->task_pid (which holds
the init_pid_ns view). pidfd_show_fdinfo() in kernel/pid.c
follows the same pattern.

Nicholas CarliniandJens Axboe 5170efd9c3 io_uring/fdinfo: fix OOB read in SQE_MIXED wrap check
__io_uring_show_fdinfo() iterates over pending SQEs and, for 128-byte
SQEs on an IORING_SETUP_SQE_MIXED ring, needs to detect when the second
half of the SQE would be past the end of the sq_sqes array. The current
check tests (++sq_head & sq_mask) == 0, but sq_head is only incremented
when a 128-byte SQE is encountered, not on every iteration. The actual
array index is sq_idx = (i + sq_head) & sq_mask, which can be sq_mask
(the last slot) while the wrap check passes.

Fix by checking sq_idx directly. Keep the sq_head increment so the loop
still skips the second half of the 128-byte SQE on the next iteration.

Jens Axboe b59efde9e6 io_uring/fdinfo: fix SQE_MIXED SQE displaying
When displaying pending SQEs for a MIXED ring, each 128-byte SQE
increments sq_head to skip the second slot, but the loop counter is not
adjusted. This can cause the loop to read past sq_tail by one entry for
each 128-byte SQE encountered, displaying SQEs that haven't been made
consumable yet by the application.

Match the kernel's own consumption logic in io_init_req() which
decrements what's left when consuming the extra slot.

Jens Axboe 38cfdd9dd2 io_uring/fdinfo: be a bit nicer when looping a lot of SQEs/CQEs
Add cond_resched() in those dump loops, just in case a lot of entries
are being dumped. And detect invalid CQ ring head/tail entries, to avoid
iterating more than what is necessary. Generally not an issue, but can be
if things like KASAN or other debugging metrics are enabled.

Jens Axboe 8cd5a59e4d io_uring/fdinfo: validate opcode before checking if it's an 128b one
The mixed SQE support assumes that userspace always passes valid data,
that is not the case. Validate the opcode properly before indexing
the io_issue_defs[] array, and pass it through the nospec indexing
as well as it's a user valid indexing a kernel array.

Jens Axboe 101e596e74 io_uring/fdinfo: cap SQ iteration at max SQ entries
A previous commit changed the logic around how SQ entries are iterated,
and as a result, had a few bugs. One is that it fully trusts the SQ
head and tail, which are user exposed. Another is that it fails to
increment the SQ head if the SQ index is out of range.

Fix both of those up, reverting to the previous logic of how to
iterate SQ entries.

getrusage() does a lot more than what the SQPOLL accounting needs, the
latter only cares about (and uses) the stime. Rather than do a full
RUSAGE_SELF summation, just query the used stime instead.

Keith BuschandJens Axboe 1cba30bf9f io_uring: add support for IORING_SETUP_SQE_MIXED
Normal rings support 64b SQEs for posting submissions, while certain
features require the ring to be configured with IORING_SETUP_SQE128, as
they need to convey more information per submission. This, in turn,
makes ALL the SQEs be 128b in size. This is somewhat wasteful and
inefficient, particularly when only certain SQEs need to be of the
bigger variant.

This adds support for setting up a ring with mixed SQE sizes, using
IORING_SETUP_SQE_MIXED. When setup in this mode, SQEs posted to the ring
may be either 64b or 128b in size. If a SQE is 128b in size, then opcode
will be set to a variante to indicate that this is the case. Any other
non-128b opcode will assume the SQ's default size.

SQEs on these types of mixed rings may also utilize NOP with skip
success set.  This can happen if the ring is one (small) SQE entry away
from wrapping, and an attempt is made to get a 128b SQE. As SQEs must be
contiguous in the SQ ring, a 128b SQE cannot wrap the ring. For this
case, a single NOP SQE should be inserted with the SKIP_SUCCESS flag
set. The kernel will process this as a normal NOP and without posting a
CQE.

Ensure that the CQ ring iteration handles differently sized CQEs, not
just a fixed 16b or 32b size per ring. These CQEs aren't possible just
yet, but prepare the fdinfo CQ ring dumping for handling them.

The buggy address belongs to the object at ffff88810de2cb00
 which belongs to the cache task_struct of size 3712
The buggy address is located 1992 bytes inside of
 freed 3712-byte region [ffff88810de2cb00, ffff88810de2d980)

which is caused by the task_struct pointed to by sq->thread being
released while it is being used in the function
__io_uring_show_fdinfo(). Holding ctx->uring_lock does not prevent ehre
relase or exit of sq->thread.

Fix this by assigning and looking up ->thread under RCU, and grabbing a
reference to the task_struct. This ensures that it cannot get released
while fdinfo is using it.

Jens Axboe d871198ee4 io_uring/fdinfo: grab ctx->uring_lock around io_uring_show_fdinfo()
Not everything requires locking in there, which is why the 'has_lock'
variable exists. But enough does that it's a bit unwieldy to manage.
Wrap the whole thing in a ->uring_lock trylock, and just return
with no output if we fail to grab it. The existing trylock() will
already have greatly diminished utility/output for the failure case.

This fixes an issue with reading the SQE fields, if the ring is being
actively resized at the same time.

Jens Axboe f024d3a8de io_uring/fdinfo: annotate racy sq/cq head/tail reads
syzbot complains about the cached sq head read, and it's totally right.
But we don't need to care, it's just reading fdinfo, and reading the
CQ or SQ tail/head entries are known racy in that they are just a view
into that very instant and may of course be outdated by the time they
are reported.

Annotate both the SQ head and CQ tail read with data_race() to avoid
this syzbot complaint.

Output of io_uring_show_fdinfo() has several problems:

* racy use of ->d_iname
* junk if the name is long - in that case it's not stored in ->d_iname
at all
* lack of quoting (names can contain newlines, etc. - or be equal to "<none>",
for that matter).
* lines for empty slots are pointless noise - we already have the total
amount, so having just the non-empty ones would carry the same information.

Jens Axboe b6f58a3f4a io_uring: move struct io_kiocb from task_struct to io_uring_task
Rather than store the task_struct itself in struct io_kiocb, store
the io_uring specific task_struct. The life times are the same in terms
of io_uring, and this avoids doing some dereferences through the
task_struct. For the hot path of putting local task references, we can
deref req->tctx instead, which we'll need anyway in that function
regardless of whether it's local or remote references.

This is mostly straight forward, except the original task PF_EXITING
check needs a bit of tweaking. task_work is _always_ run from the
originating task, except in the fallback case, where it's run from a
kernel thread. Replace the potentially racy (in case of fallback work)
checks for req->task->flags with current->flags. It's either the still
the original task, in which case PF_EXITING will be sane, or it has
PF_KTHREAD set, in which case it's fallback work. Both cases should
prevent moving forward with the given request.

Jens Axboe d50f94d761 io_uring/rsrc: get rid of the empty node and dummy_ubuf
The empty node was used as a placeholder for a sparse entry, but it
didn't really solve any issues. The caller still has to check for
whether it's the empty node or not, it may as well just check for a NULL
return instead.

The dummy_ubuf was used for a sparse buffer entry, but NULL will serve
the same purpose there of ensuring an -EFAULT on attempted import.

Just use NULL for a sparse node, regardless of whether or not it's a
file or buffer resource.

Jens Axboe 3597f2786b io_uring/rsrc: unify file and buffer resource tables
For files, there's nr_user_files/file_table/file_data, and buffers have
nr_user_bufs/user_bufs/buf_data. There's no reason why file_table and
file_data can't be the same thing, and ditto for the buffer side. That
gets rid of more io_ring_ctx state that's in two spots rather than just
being in one spot, as it should be. Put all the registered file data in
one locations, and ditto on the buffer front.

This also avoids having both io_rsrc_data->nodes being an allocated
array, and ->user_bufs[] or ->file_table.nodes. There's no reason to
have this information duplicated. Keep it in one spot, io_rsrc_data,
along with how many resources are available.
