Use DEFINE_RAW_FLEX() to avoid thousands of -Wflex-array-member-not-at-end
warnings.
Remove struct ip_options_data, and adjust the rest of the code so that
flexible-array member struct ip_options_rcu::opt.__data[] ends last
in struct icmp_bxm.
Compensate for this by using the DEFINE_RAW_FLEX() helper to define each
on-stack struct instance that contained struct ip_options_data as a member,
and to define struct ip_options_rcu with a fixed on-stack size for its
nested flexible-array member opt.__data[].
Also, add a couple of code comments to prevent people from adding members
to a struct after another member that contains a flexible array.
With these changes, fix 2600 warnings of the following type:
include/net/inet_sock.h:65:33: warning: structure containing a flexible array member is not at the end of another structure [-Wflex-array-member-not-at-end]

In {tcp6,udp6,raw6}_sock, struct ipv6_pinfo is always placed at
the beginning of a new cache line because
1. __alignof__(struct tcp_sock) is 64 due to ____cacheline_aligned
of __cacheline_group_begin(tcp_sock_write_tx)
2. __alignof__(struct udp_sock) is 64 due to ____cacheline_aligned
of struct numa_drop_counters
3. in raw6_sock, struct numa_drop_counters is placed before
struct ipv6_pinfo
. struct ipv6_pinfo is 136 bytes, but the last cache line is
only used by ipv6_fl_list:
$ pahole -C ipv6_pinfo vmlinux
struct ipv6_pinfo {
...
/* --- cacheline 2 boundary (128 bytes) --- */
struct ipv6_fl_socklist * ipv6_fl_list; /* 128 8 */
/* size: 136, cachelines: 3, members: 23 */
Let's move ipv6_fl_list from struct ipv6_pinfo to struct inet_sock
to save a full cache line for {tcp6,udp6,raw6}_sock.
Now, struct ipv6_pinfo is 128 bytes, and {tcp6,udp6,raw6}_sock have
64 bytes less, while {tcp,udp,raw}_sock retain the same size.
Before:
# grep -E "^(RAW|UDP[^L\-]|TCP)" /proc/slabinfo | awk '{print $1, "\t", $4}'
RAWv6 1408
UDPv6 1472
TCPv6 2560
RAW 1152
UDP 1280
TCP 2368
After:
# grep -E "^(RAW|UDP[^L\-]|TCP)" /proc/slabinfo | awk '{print $1, "\t", $4}'
RAWv6 1344
UDPv6 1408
TCPv6 2496
RAW 1152
UDP 1280
TCP 2368
Also, ipv6_fl_list and inet_flags (SNDFLOW bit) are placed in the
same cache line.
$ pahole -C inet_sock vmlinux
...
/* --- cacheline 11 boundary (704 bytes) was 56 bytes ago --- */
struct ipv6_pinfo * pinet6; /* 760 8 */
/* --- cacheline 12 boundary (768 bytes) --- */
struct ipv6_fl_socklist * ipv6_fl_list; /* 768 8 */
unsigned long inet_flags; /* 776 8 */

The Linux socket API currently allows setting SO_PRIORITY at the
socket level, applying a uniform priority to all packets sent through
that socket. The exception to this is IP_TOS, when the priority value
is calculated during the handling of
ancillary data, as implemented in commit f02db315b8 ("ipv4: IP_TOS
and IP_TTL can be specified as ancillary data").
However, this is a computed
value, and there is currently no mechanism to set a custom priority
via control messages prior to this patch.
According to this patch, if SO_PRIORITY is specified as ancillary data,
the packet is sent with the priority value set through
sockc->priority, overriding the socket-level values
set via the traditional setsockopt() method. This is analogous to
the existing support for SO_MARK, as implemented in
commit c6af0c227a ("ip: support SO_MARK cmsg").
If both cmsg SO_PRIORITY and IP_TOS are passed, then the one that
takes precedence is the last one in the cmsg list.
This patch has the side effect that raw_send_hdrinc now interprets cmsg
IP_TOS.

SOF_TIMESTAMPING_OPT_ID socket option flag gives a way to correlate TX
timestamps and packets sent via socket. Unfortunately, there is no way
to reliably predict socket timestamp ID value in case of error returned
by sendmsg. For UDP sockets it's impossible because of lockless
nature of UDP transmit, several threads may send packets in parallel. In
case of RAW sockets MSG_MORE option makes things complicated. More
details are in the conversation [1].
This patch adds new control message type to give user-space
software an opportunity to control the mapping between packets and
values by providing ID with each sendmsg for UDP sockets.
The documentation is also added in this patch.

Generic sk_busy_loop_end() only looks at sk->sk_receive_queue
for presence of packets.
Problem is that for UDP sockets after blamed commit, some packets
could be present in another queue: udp_sk(sk)->reader_queue
In some cases, a busy poller could spin until timeout expiration,
even if some packets are available in udp_sk(sk)->reader_queue.
v3: - make sk_busy_loop_end() nicer (Willem)
v2: - add a READ_ONCE(sk->sk_family) in sk_is_inet() to avoid KCSAN splats.
- add a sk_is_inet() check in sk_is_udp() (Willem feedback)
- add a sk_is_inet() check in sk_is_tcp().

Commit 227b60f510 added a seqlock to ensure that the low and high
port numbers were always updated together.
This is overkill because the two 16bit port numbers can be held in
a u32 and read/written in a single instruction.
More recently 91d0b78c51 added support for finer per-socket limits.
The user-supplied value is 'high << 16 | low' but they are held
separately and the socket options protected by the socket lock.
Use a u32 containing 'high << 16 | low' for both the 'net' and 'sk'
fields and use READ_ONCE()/WRITE_ONCE() to ensure both values are
always updated together.
Change (the now trival) inet_get_local_port_range() to a static inline
to optimise the calling code.
(In particular avoiding returning integers by reference.)
