This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

Add the setlease file_operation pointing to generic_setlease to the
squashfs file_operations structures. A future patch will change the
default behavior to reject lease attempts with -EINVAL when there is no
setlease file operation defined. Add generic_setlease to retain the
ability to set leases on this filesystem.

Add support for SEEK_DATA and SEEK_HOLE lseek() whence values.
These allow much faster searches for holes and data in sparse files, which
can significantly speed up file copying, e.g.
before (GNU coreutils, Debian 13):
cp --sparse=always big-file /
took real 11m58s, user 0m5.764s, sys 11m48s
after:
real 0.047s, user 0.000s, sys 0.027s
Where big-file has a 256 GB hole followed by 47 KB of data.

Patch series "Squashfs: performance improvement and a sanity check".
This patchset adds an additional sanity check when reading regular file
inodes, and adds support for SEEK_DATA/SEEK_HOLE lseek() whence values.
This patch (of 2):
Add an additional sanity check when reading regular file inodes.
A regular file if the file size is an exact multiple of the filesystem
block size cannot have a fragment. This is because by definition a
fragment block stores tailends which are not a whole block in size.

Syzkaller reports a "KMSAN: uninit-value in squashfs_get_parent" bug.
This is caused by open_by_handle_at() being called with a file handle
containing an invalid parent inode number. In particular the inode number
is that of a symbolic link, rather than a directory.
Squashfs_get_parent() gets called with that symbolic link inode, and
accesses the parent member field.
unsigned int parent_ino = squashfs_i(inode)->parent;
Because non-directory inodes in Squashfs do not have a parent value, this
is uninitialised, and this causes an uninitialised value access.
The fix is to initialise parent with the invalid inode 0, which will cause
an EINVAL error to be returned.
Regular inodes used to share the parent field with the block_list_start
field. This is removed in this commit to enable the parent field to
contain the invalid inode number 0.

The commit 93e72b3c61 ("squashfs: migrate from ll_rw_block usage
to BIO") removed caching of compressed blocks in SquashFS, causing fio
performance regression in workloads with repeated file reads. Without
caching, every read triggers disk I/O, severely impacting performance in
tools like fio.
This patch introduces a new CONFIG_SQUASHFS_COMP_CACHE_FULL Kconfig option
to enable caching of all compressed blocks, restoring performance to
pre-BIO migration levels. When enabled, all pages in a BIO are cached in
the page cache, reducing disk I/O for repeated reads. The fio test
results with this patch confirm the performance restoration:
For example, fio tests (iodepth=1, numjobs=1,
ioengine=psync) show a notable performance restoration:
Disable CONFIG_SQUASHFS_COMP_CACHE_FULL:
IOPS=815, BW=102MiB/s (107MB/s)(6113MiB/60001msec)
Enable CONFIG_SQUASHFS_COMP_CACHE_FULL:
IOPS=2223, BW=278MiB/s (291MB/s)(16.3GiB/59999msec)
The tradeoff is increased memory usage due to caching all compressed
blocks. The CONFIG_SQUASHFS_COMP_CACHE_FULL option allows users to enable
this feature selectively, balancing performance and memory usage for
workloads with frequent repeated reads.

Syzkaller reports an "UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in squashfs_bio_read" bug.
Syzkaller forks multiple processes which after mounting the Squashfs
filesystem, issues an ioctl("/dev/loop0", LOOP_SET_BLOCK_SIZE, 0x8000).
Now if this ioctl occurs at the same time another process is in the
process of mounting a Squashfs filesystem on /dev/loop0, the failure
occurs. When this happens the following code in squashfs_fill_super()
fails.
----
msblk->devblksize = sb_min_blocksize(sb, SQUASHFS_DEVBLK_SIZE);
msblk->devblksize_log2 = ffz(~msblk->devblksize);
----
sb_min_blocksize() returns 0, which means msblk->devblksize is set to 0.
As a result, ffz(~msblk->devblksize) returns 64, and msblk->devblksize_log2
is set to 64.
This subsequently causes the
UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in fs/squashfs/block.c:195:36
shift exponent 64 is too large for 64-bit type 'u64' (aka
'unsigned long long')
This commit adds a check for a 0 return by sb_min_blocksize().
