Colin WaltersandEric Biggers 0c8c88b8eb ovl: fix verity lazy-load guard broken by fsverity_active() semantic change
Commit f77f281b61 ("fsverity: use a hashtable to find the
fsverity_info") made fsverity_active() check whether the inode has the
verity flag, rather than whether the inode's fsverity_info is loaded.
This broke ovl_ensure_verity_loaded(), which wants to load the
fsverity_info for any verity inodes that haven't had it loaded yet.

Therefore, to check that the fsverity_info hasn't yet been loaded, use
fsverity_get_info(inode) == NULL instead of !fsverity_active(inode).

Also, since fsverity_get_info() now involves a hash table lookup, put
the more lightweight IS_VERITY() flag check first.

Pull vfs i_ino updates from Christian Brauner:
 "For historical reasons, the inode->i_ino field is an unsigned long,
  which means that it's 32 bits on 32 bit architectures. This has caused
  a number of filesystems to implement hacks to hash a 64-bit identifier
  into a 32-bit field, and deprives us of a universal identifier field
  for an inode.

  This changes the inode->i_ino field from an unsigned long to a u64.
  This shouldn't make any material difference on 64-bit hosts, but
  32-bit hosts will see struct inode grow by at least 4 bytes. This
  could have effects on slabcache sizes and field alignment.

  The bulk of the changes are to format strings and tracepoints, since
  the kernel itself doesn't care that much about the i_ino field. The
  first patch changes some vfs function arguments, so check that one out
  carefully.

  With this change, we may be able to shrink some inode structures. For
  instance, struct nfs_inode has a fileid field that holds the 64-bit
  inode number. With this set of changes, that field could be
  eliminated. I'd rather leave that sort of cleanups for later just to
  keep this simple"

Amir Goldstein 53a7c171e9 ovl: fix wrong detection of 32bit inode numbers
The implicit FILEID_INO32_GEN encoder was changed to be explicit,
so we need to fix the detection.

When mounting overlayfs with upperdir and lowerdir on different ext4
filesystems, the expected kmsg log is:

  overlayfs: "xino" feature enabled using 32 upper inode bits.

But instead, since the regressing commit, the kmsg log was:

  overlayfs: "xino" feature enabled using 2 upper inode bits.

Jeff LaytonandChristian Brauner 0b2600f81c treewide: change inode->i_ino from unsigned long to u64
On 32-bit architectures, unsigned long is only 32 bits wide, which
causes 64-bit inode numbers to be silently truncated. Several
filesystems (NFS, XFS, BTRFS, etc.) can generate inode numbers that
exceed 32 bits, and this truncation can lead to inode number collisions
and other subtle bugs on 32-bit systems.

Change the type of inode->i_ino from unsigned long to u64 to ensure that
inode numbers are always represented as 64-bit values regardless of
architecture. Update all format specifiers treewide from %lu/%lx to
%llu/%llx to match the new type, along with corresponding local variable
types.

This is the bulk treewide conversion. Earlier patches in this series
handled trace events separately to allow trace field reordering for
better struct packing on 32-bit.

Linus Torvalds 323bbfcf1e Convert 'alloc_flex' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This is the exact same thing as the 'alloc_obj()' version, only much
smaller because there are a lot fewer users of the *alloc_flex()
interface.

As with alloc_obj() version, this was done entirely with mindless brute
force, using the same script, except using 'flex' in the pattern rather
than 'objs*'.

Linus Torvalds bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

Kees Cook 69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

NeilBrownandChristian Brauner e9c70084a6 ovl: fail ovl_lock_rename_workdir() if either target is unhashed
As well as checking that the parent hasn't changed after getting the
lock we need to check that the dentry hasn't been unhashed.
Otherwise we might try to rename something that has been removed.

NeilBrownandChristian Brauner ac50950ca1 VFS/ovl/smb: introduce start_renaming_dentry()
Several callers perform a rename on a dentry they already have, and only
require lookup for the target name.  This includes smb/server and a few
different places in overlayfs.

start_renaming_dentry() performs the required lookup and takes the
required lock using lock_rename_child()

It is used in three places in overlayfs and in ksmbd_vfs_rename().

In the ksmbd case, the parent of the source is not important - the
source must be renamed from wherever it is.  So start_renaming_dentry()
allows rd->old_parent to be NULL and only checks it if it is non-NULL.
On success rd->old_parent will be the parent of old_dentry with an extra
reference taken.  Other start_renaming function also now take the extra
reference and end_renaming() now drops this reference as well.

ovl_lookup_temp(), ovl_parent_lock(), and ovl_parent_unlock() are
all removed as they are no longer needed.

OVL_TEMPNAME_SIZE and ovl_tempname() are now declared in overlayfs.h so
that ovl_check_rename_whiteout() can access them.

ovl_copy_up_workdir() now always cleans up on error.

Drop the restriction for casefold dentries lookup to enable support for
case-insensitive layers in overlayfs.

Support case-insensitive layers with the condition that they should be
uniformly enabled across the stack and (i.e. if the root mount dir has
casefold enabled, so should all the dirs bellow for every layer).

Amir Goldstein e8bd877fb7 ovl: fix possible double unlink
commit 9d23967b18 ("ovl: simplify an error path in
ovl_copy_up_workdir()") introduced the helper ovl_cleanup_unlocked(),
which is later used in several following patches to re-acquire the parent
inode lock and unlink a dentry that was earlier found using lookup.
This helper was eventually renamed to ovl_cleanup().

The helper ovl_parent_lock() is used to re-acquire the parent inode lock.
After acquiring the parent inode lock, the helper verifies that the
dentry has not since been moved to another parent, but it failed to
verify that the dentry wasn't unlinked from the parent.

This means that now every call to ovl_cleanup() could potentially
race with another thread, unlinking the dentry to be cleaned up
underneath overlayfs and trigger a vfs assertion.

Pull fileattr updates from Christian Brauner:
 "This introduces the new file_getattr() and file_setattr() system calls
  after lengthy discussions.

  Both system calls serve as successors and extensible companions to
  the FS_IOC_FSGETXATTR and FS_IOC_FSSETXATTR system calls which have
  started to show their age in addition to being named in a way that
  makes it easy to conflate them with extended attribute related
  operations.

  These syscalls allow userspace to set filesystem inode attributes on
  special files. One of the usage examples is the XFS quota projects.

  XFS has project quotas which could be attached to a directory. All new
  inodes in these directories inherit project ID set on parent
  directory.

  The project is created from userspace by opening and calling
  FS_IOC_FSSETXATTR on each inode. This is not possible for special
  files such as FIFO, SOCK, BLK etc. Therefore, some inodes are left
  with empty project ID. Those inodes then are not shown in the quota
  accounting but still exist in the directory. This is not critical but
  in the case when special files are created in the directory with
  already existing project quota, these new inodes inherit extended
  attributes. This creates a mix of special files with and without
  attributes. Moreover, special files with attributes don't have a
  possibility to become clear or change the attributes. This, in turn,
  prevents userspace from re-creating quota project on these existing
  files.

  In addition, these new system calls allow the implementation of
  additional attributes that we couldn't or didn't want to fit into the
  legacy ioctls anymore"
