This touchscreen controller was used om Gateway AOL Connected Touchpad
released in 2000 and, according to Wikipedia, removed from the market
in October 2001 due to slow sales.
It looks like it can still be bought on eBay for $1000 but I really
doubt anyone will actually use it.
Remove the driver.

Introduce support for the Hynitron CST816x series touchscreen controller
used for 240×240 1.28-inch Round LCD Display Module manufactured
by Waveshare Electronics. The driver is designed based on an Arduino
implementation marked as under MIT License. This driver is written
for a particular round display based on the CST816S controller, which
is not compatiable with existing driver for Hynitron controllers.

Add a simple driver for the Himax HX852x(ES) touch panel controller,
with support for multi-touch and capacitive touch keys.
The driver is somewhat based on sample code from Himax. However, that
code was rather confusing, so that we spent a significant amount of
time just trying to understand the packet format and register commands.
In this driver they are described with clean structs and defines rather
than magic numbers and offset calculations.

When the first driver for Apple Silicon was upstreamed we accidentally
included `default ARCH_APPLE` in its Kconfig which then spread to almost
every subsequent driver. As soon as ARCH_APPLE is set to y this will
pull in many drivers as built-ins which is not what we want.
Thus, drop `default ARCH_APPLE` from Kconfig.

The cyttsp4 touchscreen driver was contributed in 2013 and since then
has seen no updates. The driver uses platform data (no device tree
support) and there are no users of it in the mainline kernel. There were
occasional fixes to it for issues either found by static code analysis
tools or via visual inspection, but otherwise the driver is completely
untested.
Remove the driver.

MCS-5000 belongs to the 1st generation of Melfas chips, manufactured in
2000-2007.
The driver relies on custom platform data (no DT support) and there
never were any users of this driver in the mainline kernel. The commit
adding the driver mentioned that the driver was tested on S3C6410 NCP
board (with Samsung S3C6410 SoC) but the touchscreen device was never
added to the board file. This board was removed in v6.3 in commit
743c8fbb90 ("ARM: s3c: remove most s3c64xx board support").
Remove the driver since there are no users.

After starting to use regmap API to access registers the edt-ft5x06
driver depends on symbols provided by REGMAP_I2C:
edt-ft5x06.o: in function `edt_ft5x06_ts_probe':
edt-ft5x06.c:1154: undefined reference to `__regmap_init_i2c'
edt-ft5x06.o: in function `edt_ft5x06_ts_identify':
edt-ft5x06.c:897: undefined reference to `__regmap_init_i2c'
Make sure support for I2C regmap is actually selected by adding this
dependency to Kconfig.

Since commit 0166dc11be ("of: make CONFIG_OF user selectable"), it
is possible to test-build any driver which depends on OF on any
architecture by explicitly selecting OF. Therefore depending on
COMPILE_TEST as an alternative is no longer needed.
It is actually better to always build such drivers with OF enabled,
so that the test builds are closer to how each driver will actually be
built on its intended target. Building them without OF may not test
much as the compiler will optimize out potentially large parts of the
code. In the worst case, this could even pop false positive warnings.
Dropping COMPILE_TEST here improves the quality of our testing and
avoids wasting time on non-existent issues.

This patch adds support for Himax hx83112b touchscreen devices. As there
are no publicly available data sheets for these devices, the
implementation is based on the driver of the downstream Android kernel
used in the Fairphone 3. This patch is a complete rewrite, though, and
the code bears no resemblence to the original implementation.
The driver has been tested on the aforementioned phone.

Add support for the Hynitron cst3xx controller found on devices such
as the Anbernic RG353P and RG353V (the Hynitron CST340). This driver
was built from sources provided by Hynitron to Anbernic (possibly
via Rockchip as an intermediary) and marked as GPLv2 in the code.
This driver was written strictly for the cst3xx series, but in
most places was left somewhat generic so support could be easily
added to other devices in the future.
