Maciej W. RozyckiandThomas Bogendoerfer 8374c2cb83 MIPS: Always record SEGBITS in cpu_data.vmbits
With a 32-bit kernel running on 64-bit MIPS hardware the hardcoded value
of `cpu_vmbits' only records the size of compatibility useg and does not
reflect the size of native xuseg or the complete range of values allowed
in the VPN2 field of TLB entries.

An upcoming change will need the actual VPN2 value range permitted even
in 32-bit kernel configurations, so always include the `vmbits' member
in `struct cpuinfo_mips' and probe for SEGBITS when running on 64-bit
hardware and resorting to the currently hardcoded value of 31 on 32-bit
processors. No functional change for users of `cpu_vmbits'.

Gregory CLEMENTandThomas Bogendoerfer 07f8888ee7 MIPS: disable MMID when not supported by the hardware
It is possible that MMID is supported at the CPU level, but its
integration in a SoC prevents its usage. For instance, if the
System-level Interconnect (also known as Network on Chip) does not
support global invalidation, then the MMID feature is not usable. The
current implementation of MMID relies on the GINV* instructions.

This patch allows the disabling of MMID based on a device tree
property, as this issue cannot be detected at runtime.

MMID is set up very early during the boot process, even before device
tree data can be accessed. Therefore, when we determine whether MMID
needs to be disabled, some MMID setup has already been performed for
the boot CPU. Consequently, we must revert the MMID setup on the first
CPU before disabling the feature for the subsequent CPUs that will be
initialized later.

Loongson64 C and G processors have EXTIMER feature which
is conflicting with CP0 counter.

Although the processor resets in EXTIMER disabled & INTIMER
enabled mode, which is compatible with MIPS CP0 compare, firmware
may attempt to enable EXTIMER and interfere CP0 compare.

Set timer mode back to MIPS compatible mode to fix booting on
systems with such firmware before we have an actual driver for
EXTIMER.

Commit 7db5e9e9e5 ("MIPS: loongson64: fix FTLB configuration")
move decode_configs() from the beginning of cpu_probe_loongson() to the
end in order to fix FTLB configuration. However, it breaks the CPUCFG
decoding because decode_configs() use "c->options = xxxx" rather than
"c->options |= xxxx", all information get from CPUCFG by decode_cpucfg()
is lost.

This causes error when creating a KVM guest on Loongson-3A4000:
Exception Code: 4 not handled @ PC: 0000000087ad5981, inst: 0xcb7a1898 BadVaddr: 0x0 Status: 0x0

decode_configs() after that.

Loongson64 processors have a writecombine issue that maybe failed to
write back framebuffer used with ATI Radeon or AMD GPU at times, after
commit 8a08e50cee ("drm: Permit video-buffers writecombine mapping
for MIPS"), there exists some errors such as blurred screen and lockup,
and so on.

[ 60.958721] radeon 0000:03:00.0: ring 0 stalled for more than 10079msec
[ 60.965315] radeon 0000:03:00.0: GPU lockup (current fence id 0x0000000000000112 last fence id 0x000000000000011d on ring 0)

As discussed earlier [1], it might be better to disable writecombine
on the CPU detection side because the root cause is unknown now.

Actually, this patch is a temporary solution to just make it work well,
it is not a proper and final solution, I hope someone will have a better
solution to fix this issue in the future.

Thomas Bogendoerfer bd67b711bf MIPS: kernel: Reserve exception base early to prevent corruption
BMIPS is one of the few platforms that do change the exception base.
After commit 2dcb396454 ("memblock: do not start bottom-up allocations
with kernel_end") we started seeing BMIPS boards fail to boot with the
built-in FDT being corrupted.

Before the cited commit, early allocations would be in the [kernel_end,
RAM_END] range, but after commit they would be within [RAM_START +
PAGE_SIZE, RAM_END].

The custom exception base handler that is installed by
bmips_ebase_setup() done for BMIPS5000 CPUs ends-up trampling on the
memory region allocated by unflatten_and_copy_device_tree() thus
corrupting the FDT used by the kernel.

To fix this, we need to perform an early reservation of the custom
exception space. Additional we reserve the first 4k (1k for R3k) for
either normal exception vector space (legacy CPUs) or special vectors
like cache exceptions.

Huge thanks to Serge for analysing and proposing a solution to this
issue.

The previous code was doing:
BUG_ON(!__builtin_constant_p(cpu_has_counter) || cpu_has_counter);

This only worked as the "cpu_has_counter" macro was overridden in
<cpu-feature-overrides.h>. The default "cpu_has_counter" macro is
non-constant, which triggered the BUG_ON() independently of the value
returned by the macro.

What we want to check here, is that *if* the macro was overridden to a
compile-time constant, then must be defined to zero, otherwise it's a
bug.

So the correct check is:
