Pull powerpc updates from Michael Ellerman:
 "Here's a first pull request for powerpc updates for 3.18.

  The bulk of the additions are for the "cxl" driver, for IBM's Coherent
  Accelerator Processor Interface (CAPI).  Most of it's in drivers/misc,
  which Greg & Arnd maintain, Greg said he was happy for us to take it
  through our tree.

  There's the usual minor cleanups and fixes, including a bit of noise
  in drivers from some of those.  A bunch of updates to our EEH code,
  which has been getting more testing.  Several nice speedups from
  Anton, including 20% in clear_page().

  And a bunch of updates for freescale from Scott"

Konstantin Khlebnikov 0085d61fe0 selftests/vm/transhuge-stress: stress test for memory compaction
This tool induces memory fragmentation via sequential allocation of
transparent huge pages and splitting off everything except their last
sub-pages.  It easily generates pressure to the memory compaction code.

Konstantin Khlebnikov 09316c09dd mm/balloon_compaction: add vmstat counters and kpageflags bit
Always mark pages with PageBalloon even if balloon compaction is disabled
and expose this mark in /proc/kpageflags as KPF_BALLOON.

Also this patch adds three counters into /proc/vmstat: "balloon_inflate",
"balloon_deflate" and "balloon_migrate".  They accumulate balloon
activity.  Current size of balloon is (balloon_inflate - balloon_deflate)
pages.

All generic balloon code now gathered under option CONFIG_MEMORY_BALLOON.
It should be selected by ballooning driver which wants use this feature.
Currently virtio-balloon is the only user.

Michal Nazarewicz b9a4274699 tools: ffs-test: add compatibility code for old kernels
If ffs-test is used with a kernel prior to 3.14, which do not
support the new descriptors format, it will fail when trying to
write the descriptors.  Add a function that converts the new
descriptors to the legacy ones and use it to retry writing the
descriptors using the legacy format.

Also add “-l” flag to ffs-test which will cause the tool to
never try the new format and instead immediatelly try the
legacy one.  This should be useful to test whether parsing
of the old format still works on given 3.14+ kernel.

Michal Nazarewicz 51c208c746 tools: ffs-test: convert to new descriptor format
Since commit [ac8dde11: “Add flags to descriptors block”] functionfs
supports a new, more powerful and extensible, descriptor format.
Since ffs-test is probably the first thing users of the functionfs
interface see when they start writing functionfs user space daemons,
convert it to use the new format thus promoting it.

 "This is a bunch of small changes built against 3.16-rc6.  The most
  significant change for users is the first patch which makes setns
  drmatically faster by removing unneded rcu handling.

  The next chunk of changes are so that "mount -o remount,.." will not
  allow the user namespace root to drop flags on a mount set by the
  system wide root.  Aks this forces read-only mounts to stay read-only,
  no-dev mounts to stay no-dev, no-suid mounts to stay no-suid, no-exec
  mounts to stay no exec and it prevents unprivileged users from messing
  with a mounts atime settings.  I have included my test case as the
  last patch in this series so people performing backports can verify
  this change works correctly.

  The next change fixes a bug in NFS that was discovered while auditing
  nsproxy users for the first optimization.  Today you can oops the
  kernel by reading /proc/fs/nfsfs/{servers,volumes} if you are clever
  with pid namespaces.  I rebased and fixed the build of the
  !CONFIG_NFS_FS case yesterday when a build bot caught my typo.  Given
  that no one to my knowledge bases anything on my tree fixing the typo
  in place seems more responsible that requiring a typo-fix to be
  backported as well.

  The last change is a small semantic cleanup introducing
  /proc/thread-self and pointing /proc/mounts and /proc/net at it.  This
  prevents several kinds of problemantic corner cases.  It is a
  user-visible change so it has a minute chance of causing regressions
  so the change to /proc/mounts and /proc/net are individual one line
  commits that can be trivially reverted.  Unfortunately I lost and
  could not find the email of the original reporter so he is not
  credited.  From at least one perspective this change to /proc/net is a
  refgression fix to allow pthread /proc/net uses that were broken by
  the introduction of the network namespace"

David Herrmann 87b2d44026 selftests: add memfd/sealing page-pinning tests
Setting SEAL_WRITE is not possible if there're pending GUP users. This
commit adds selftests for memfd+sealing that use FUSE to create pending
page-references. FUSE is very helpful here in that it allows us to delay
direct-IO operations for an arbitrary amount of time. This way, we can
force the kernel to pin pages and then run our normal selftests.

Thierry Fauck 8b6aaf65d3 tools/testing/selftests/ptrace/peeksiginfo.c: add PAGE_SIZE definition
On IBM powerpc where multiple page size value are supported, current
ppc64 and ppc64el distro don't define the PAGE_SIZE variable in
/usr/include as this is a dynamic value retrieved by the getpagesize()
or sysconf() defined in unistd.h.  The PAGE_SIZE variable sounds defined
when only one value is supported by the kernel.

As such, when the PAGE_SIZE definition doesn't exist system should
retrieve the dynamic value.

Pull ACPI and power management updates from Rafael Wysocki:
 "Again, ACPICA leads the pack (47 commits), followed by cpufreq (18
  commits) and system suspend/hibernation (9 commits).

  From the new code perspective, the ACPICA update brings ACPI 5.1 to
  the table, including a new device configuration object called _DSD
  (Device Specific Data) that will hopefully help us to operate device
  properties like Device Trees do (at least to some extent) and changes
  related to supporting ACPI on ARM.

  Apart from that we have hibernation changes making it use radix trees
  to store memory bitmaps which should speed up some operations carried
  out by it quite significantly.  We also have some power management
  changes related to suspend-to-idle (the "freeze" sleep state) support
  and more preliminary changes needed to support ACPI on ARM (outside of
  ACPICA).

  The rest is fixes and cleanups pretty much everywhere.

  Specifics:

   - ACPICA update to upstream version 20140724.  That includes ACPI 5.1
     material (support for the _CCA and _DSD predefined names, changes
     related to the DMAR and PCCT tables and ARM support among other
     things) and cleanups related to using ACPICA's header files.  A
     major part of it is related to acpidump and the core code used by
     that utility.  Changes from Bob Moore, David E Box, Lv Zheng,
     Sascha Wildner, Tomasz Nowicki, Hanjun Guo.

   - Radix trees for memory bitmaps used by the hibernation core from
     Joerg Roedel.

   - Support for waking up the system from suspend-to-idle (also known
     as the "freeze" sleep state) using ACPI-based PCI wakeup signaling
     (Rafael J Wysocki).

   - Fixes for issues related to ACPI button events (Rafael J Wysocki).

   - New device ID for an ACPI-enumerated device included into the
     Wildcat Point PCH from Jie Yang.

   - ACPI video updates related to backlight handling from Hans de Goede
     and Linus Torvalds.

   - Preliminary changes needed to support ACPI on ARM from Hanjun Guo
     and Graeme Gregory.

   - ACPI PNP core cleanups from Arjun Sreedharan and Zhang Rui.

   - Cleanups related to ACPI_COMPANION() and ACPI_HANDLE() macros
     (Rafael J Wysocki).

   - Core timekeeping code is year-2038 safe now for 32bit machines.
     Now we just need to fix all in kernel users and the gazillion of
     user space interfaces which rely on timespec/timeval :)

   - Better cache layout for the timekeeping internal data structures.

   - Proper nanosecond based interfaces for in kernel users.

   - Tree wide cleanup of code which wants nanoseconds but does hoops
     and loops to convert back and forth from timespecs.  Some of it
     definitely belongs into the ugly code museum.

   - Consolidation of the timekeeping interface zoo.

   - A fast NMI safe accessor to clock monotonic for tracing.  This is a
     long standing request to support correlated user/kernel space
     traces.  With proper NTP frequency correction it's also suitable
     for correlation of traces accross separate machines.

   - Checkpoint/restart support for timerfd.

   - A few NOHZ[_FULL] improvements in the [hr]timer code.

   - Code move from kernel to kernel/time of all time* related code.

   - New clocksource/event drivers from the ARM universe.  I'm really
     impressed that despite an architected timer in the newer chips SoC
     manufacturers insist on inventing new and differently broken SoC
     specific timers.

   - Another round of code move from arch to drivers.  Looks like most
     of the legacy mess in ARM regarding timers is sorted out except for
     a few obnoxious strongholds.
