Eric Engestrom b3c11ac267 drm: move allocation out of drm_get_format_name()
The function's behaviour was changed in 90844f0004, without changing
its signature, causing people to keep using it the old way without
realising they were now leaking memory.
Rob Clark also noticed it was also allocating GFP_KERNEL memory in
atomic contexts, breaking them.

Instead of having to allocate GFP_ATOMIC memory and fixing the callers
to make them cleanup the memory afterwards, let's change the function's
signature by having the caller take care of the memory and passing it to
the function.
The new parameter is a single-field struct in order to enforce the size
of its buffer and help callers to correctly manage their memory.

Fixes: 90844f0004 ("drm: make drm_get_format_name thread-safe")

Chris Wilson f54d186700 dma-buf: Rename struct fence to dma_fence
I plan to usurp the short name of struct fence for a core kernel struct,
and so I need to rename the specialised fence/timeline for DMA
operations to make room.

A consensus was reached in
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2016-July/113083.html
that making clear this fence applies to DMA operations was a good thing.
Since then the patch has grown a bit as usage increases, so hopefully it
remains a good thing!

(v2...: rebase, rerun spatch)
v3: Compile on msm, spotted a manual fixup that I broke.
v4: Try again for msm, sorry Daniel

Laurent Pinchart 6c5d064a2d drm: vmwgfx: Replace drm_fb_get_bpp_depth() with drm_format_info()
The driver is the last users of the drm_fb_get_bpp_depth() function. It
should ideally be converted to use struct drm_mode_fb_cmd2 instead of
the legacy struct drm_mode_fb_cmd internally, but that will require
broad changes across the code base. As a first step, replace
drm_fb_get_bpp_depth() with drm_format_info() in order to stop exporting
the function to drivers.

The new DRM_ERROR() message comes from the vmw_create_dmabuf_proxy(),
vmw_kms_new_framebuffer_surface() and vmw_kms_new_framebuffer_dmabuf()
functions that currently print an error if the pixel format is
unsupported.

Chris Wilson 998a7aa1bd drm/vmwgfx: Remove call to reservation_object_test_signaled_rcu before wait

those callers that wish to differentiate the error code between the

Thomas Hellstrom a19440304d drm/vmwgfx: Avoid validating views on view destruction
When a view destruction command was present in the command stream, the
view was validated to avoid a device error. That caused excessive and
unnecessary validations of views, surfaces and mobs on view destruction.

Replace this with a new relocation type that patches the view
destruction command to a NOP if the view is not present in the device
after the execbuf validation sequence.

Also add checks for the member size of the vmw_res_relocation struct.

Fixes sporadic command submission errors on google-earth exit.

It would be great if vmwgfx could switch over to the fbdev emulation

that's fixed now. If there's any other hold-up, we should figure out
