Jiri Olsa 0a8cb85c20 perf tools: Rename ordered_samples bool to ordered_events 
The time ordering is generic for all kinds of events, so using generic
name 'ordered_events' for ordered_samples bool in perf_tool struct.

No functional change was intended.

Adrian Hunter a7a2b8b4ce perf inject: Add --kallsyms parameter 
Let perf inject take --kallsyms parameter the same as perf script and
perf report do.

That is needed for decoding Instruction Trace data using a copy of
/proc/kcore for the kernel object because the kallsyms path is used to
locate that copy.

Jiri Olsa a261e4a09a perf tools: Fix pipe check regression in attr event callback 
The file factoring in builtin-inject.c object introduced regression
in attr event callback. The commit is:
  3406912 perf inject: Handle output file via perf_data_file object

Following hunk reversed the logic:
  -       if (!inject->pipe_output)
  +       if (&inject->output.is_pipe)

putting it back, following example now works:
  $ perf record -o - kill | perf inject -b | perf report -i -

Plus removing extra '&' (kudos to Arnaldo)

Namhyung Kim 13ce34df11 perf tools: Use tid for finding thread 
I believe that passing pid (instead of tid) as the 3rd arg of the
machine__find*_thread() was to find a main thread so that it can
search proper map group for symbols.  However with the map sharing
patch applied, it now can do it in any thread.

It fixes a bug when each thread has different name, it only reports a
main thread for samples in other threads.

For the common evsel list traversal, so that it becomes more compact.

Use the opportunity to start ditching the 'perf_' from 'perf_evlist__',
as discussed, as the whole conversion touches a lot of places, lets do
it piecemeal when we have the chance due to other work, like in this
case.

Jiri Olsa f5fc14124c perf tools: Add data object to handle perf data file 
This patch is adding 'struct perf_data_file' object as a placeholder for
all attributes regarding perf.data file handling. Changing
perf_session__new to take it as an argument.

The rest of the functionality will be added later to keep this change
simple enough, because all the places using perf_session are changed
now.

Stephane Eranian 5c5e854bc7 perf tools: Add attr->mmap2 support 
This patch adds support for the new PERF_RECORD_MMAP2 record type
exposed by the kernel. This is an extended PERF_RECORD_MMAP record.

It adds for each file-backed mapping the device major, minor number and
the inode number and generation.

This triplet uniquely identifies the source of a file-backed mapping. It
can be used to detect identical virtual mappings between processes, for
instance.

The patch will prefer MMAP2 over MMAP.

Adrian Hunter ef89325f77 perf tools: Remove references to struct ip_event 
The ip_event struct assumes fixed positions for ip, pid and tid.  That
is no longer true with the addition of PERF_SAMPLE_IDENTIFIER.  The
information is anyway in struct sample, so use that instead.

Adrian Hunter 314add6b1f perf tools: change machine__findnew_thread() to set thread pid 
Add a new parameter for 'pid' to machine__findnew_thread().
Change callers to pass 'pid' when it is known.

Note that callers sometimes want to find the main thread
which has the memory maps.  The main thread has tid == pid
so the usage in that case is:

	machine__findnew_thread(machine, pid, pid)

whereas the usage to find the specific thread is:

	machine__findnew_thread(machine, pid, tid)

Adrian Hunter 5b7ba82a75 perf symbols: Load kernel maps before using 
In order to use kernel maps to read object code, those maps must be
adjusted to map to the dso file offset.  Because lazy-initialization is
used, that is not done until symbols are loaded.  However the maps are
first used by thread__find_addr_map() before symbols are loaded.  So
this patch changes thread__find_addr() to "load" kernel maps before
using them.

Jiri Olsa 6065210db9 perf tools: Remove event types framework completely 
Removing event types framework completely. The only remainder (apart
from few comments) is following enum:

  enum perf_user_event_type {
    ...
    PERF_RECORD_HEADER_EVENT_TYPE           = 65, /* deprecated */
    ...
  }

It's kept as deprecated, resulting in error when processed in
perf_session__process_user_event function.

The 'inject' command expects to get a reference to 'struct perf_inject'
from its 'tool' member.  For that to work, 'tool' needs to be a
parameter of all tool callbacks.  Make it so.

Adrian Hunter 63c2c9f8f2 perf inject: Remove unused parameter 
The 'machine' parameter is unused in 'perf_event__repipe_synth()' and
some callers pass NULL anyway.  So remove it.
