Amir Goldstein 2d9c377025 overlay/017: require and enable redirect_dir
This test renames a merge directory so it needs to enable
redirect_dir feature, which is not enabled by default.

Chandan Rajendra 0d84683743 overlay/017: Remove constant st_ino/d_ino test for hardlinks
Constant st_ino/d_ino for hardlinks requires "index" config
feature/mount option to be enabled. overlay/018 already tests
constant st_ino feature for hardlinks. A future commit will add
constant d_ino test to overlay/018 test.

Amir Goldstein 777e1d6280 overlay/017: test consistent st_ino/d_ino for hardlinks
Currently hardlinks do not preserve the inode number across copy up,
so hardlinks did not participate in this test so far.

Stay honest and let the test verify what is was meant to verify and
let it fail because of the fact that hardlinks inode numbers are not
constant across copy up.

Amir Goldstein a19298e363 overlay/017: use t_dir_type to find file by d_ino
'find -ino' is this test was supposed to filter files by inode
number that was recorded with 'ls -i' to compare st_ino returned by
stat(2) with d_ino returned by getdents64(2).

It turns out that on some systems, 'find -ino' uses stat(2) for
filtering by inode number, which is not what we want.

Use the auxiliary program t_dir_type to filter files by inode number
instead.

Amir Goldstein cf0e25209d overlay/017: test persistent inode numbers after mount cycle
Overlayfs directory inodes are constant across copy up,
but not persistent on mount cycle.

Compare the inode numbers before and after mount cycle.

Amir Goldstein 0825323485 overlay/017: verify constant inode number after rename
The test verifies constant inode number after copy up.

Verify that inode number remains constant also after rename
and drop caches (when overlayfs needs to find the lower
inodes in another location).

Use helpers to records and check inode numbers so we can repeat

Amir Goldstein c2c9d7ef1a overlay/017: silence test output
Change test to output golden silence on success.

We are going to run the same check several times,
so instead of cloning the test output, cloning the
silence will be more conveniet.

Generalize cleanup of temp files for the same reason.

Amir Goldstein 33e4199895 overlay: use OVL_BASE_SCRATCH_MNT instead of SCRATCH_DEV
Use the new var OVL_BASE_SCRATCH_MNT to refer to overlay
base dir instead of the legacy SCRATCH_DEV var.

In overlay/011, when using MOUNT_PROG directly, provide
OVL_BASE_SCRATCH_MNT as device argument instead of 'none'.
This fix is required to support mount of base fs.

Amir Goldstein 6f5ba68b7b overlay: rename OVERLAY_LOWER/UPPER/WORK_DIR
As preparation step for configuring test/scratch base fs
for overlay tests:

- Rename OVERLAY_LOWER/UPPER/WORK_DIR => OVL_LOWER/UPPER/WORK
because we want to use OVL_ prefix for all base fs vars

- Prepend "ovl-" prefix to lower/upper/work path values to
isolate the overlay test dirs when running on a base fs
that is also used to run non overlay tests

- Make those vars values non-configurable, because lower/upper/work
directory names are an internal test detail which should
not concern the user and because we wish to simplify
and document the overlay tests setup

- Add helper _filter_ovl_dirs and use it to filter output
of test overlay/023 which matches the constant string "work"

Amir Goldstein fa8ec339e6 overlay: test unstable inode number
Introduce a new test to demonstrate a known issue with overlayfs:
- stat file A shows inode number X
- modify A to trigger copy up
- stat file A shows inode number Y != X

Also test if d_ino of readdir entries changes after copy up.

There is a POC patch by Miklos Szeredi that fixes this issue.

Not dealing with hardlinks here, because there is more to test
then stable inode number.
Hardlinks will get a test of their own.
