9e87e7776f bpo-32096: Remove obj and mem from _PyRuntime (#4532)
bpo-32096, bpo-30860: Partially revert the commit
2ebc5ce42a:

* Move structures back from Include/internal/mem.h to
  Objects/obmalloc.c
* Remove _PyObject_Initialize() and _PyMem_Initialize()
* Remove Include/internal/pymalloc.h
* Add test_capi.test_pre_initialization_api():
   Make sure that it's possible to call Py_DecodeLocale(), and then call
   Py_SetProgramName() with the decoded string, before Py_Initialize().

PyMem_RawMalloc() and Py_DecodeLocale() can be called again before
_PyRuntimeState_Init().

f7e5b56c37 bpo-32030: Split Py_Main() into subfunctions (#4399)
* Don't use "Python runtime" anymore to parse command line options or
  to get environment variables: pymain_init() is now a strict
  separation.
* Use an error message rather than "crashing" directly with
  Py_FatalError(). Limit the number of calls to Py_FatalError(). It
  prepares the code to handle errors more nicely later.
* Warnings options (-W, PYTHONWARNINGS) and "XOptions" (-X) are now
  only added to the sys module once Python core is properly
  initialized.
* _PyMain is now the well identified owner of some important strings
  like: warnings options, XOptions, and the "program name". The
  program name string is now properly freed at exit.
  pymain_free() is now responsible to free the "command" string.
* Rename most methods in Modules/main.c to use a "pymain_" prefix to
  avoid conflits and ease debug.
* Replace _Py_CommandLineDetails_INIT with memset(0)
* Reorder a lot of code to fix the initialization ordering. For
  example, initializing standard streams now comes before parsing
  PYTHONWARNINGS.
* Py_Main() now handles errors when adding warnings options and
  XOptions.
* Add _PyMem_GetDefaultRawAllocator() private function.
* Cleanup _PyMem_Initialize(): remove useless global constants: move
  them into _PyMem_Initialize().
* Call _PyRuntime_Initialize() as soon as possible:
  _PyRuntime_Initialize() now returns an error message on failure.
* Add _PyInitError structure and following macros:

  * _Py_INIT_OK()
  * _Py_INIT_ERR(msg)
  * _Py_INIT_USER_ERR(msg): "user" error, don't abort() in that case
  * _Py_INIT_FAILED(err)

2ebc5ce42a bpo-30860: Consolidate stateful runtime globals. (#3397)
* group the (stateful) runtime globals into various topical structs
* consolidate the topical structs under a single top-level _PyRuntimeState struct
* add a check-c-globals.py script that helps identify runtime globals

Other globals are excluded (see globals.txt and check-c-globals.py).

0611c26a58 On memory error, dump the memory block traceback
Issue #26564: _PyObject_DebugDumpAddress() now dumps the traceback where a
memory block was allocated on memory block. Use the tracemalloc module to get
the traceback.

8a1be61849 Add more checks on the GIL
Issue #10915, #15751, #26558:

* PyGILState_Check() now returns 1 (success) before the creation of the GIL and
  after the destruction of the GIL. It allows to use the function early in
  Python initialization and late in Python finalization.
* Add a flag to disable PyGILState_Check(). Disable PyGILState_Check() when
  Py_NewInterpreter() is called
* Add assert(PyGILState_Check()) to: _Py_dup(), _Py_fstat(), _Py_read()
  and _Py_write()

49fd7fa443 Merge p3yk branch with the trunk up to revision 45595. This breaks a fair
number of tests, all because of the codecs/_multibytecodecs issue described
here (it's not a Py3K issue, just something Py3K discovers):
http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-dev/2006-April/064051.html

Hye-Shik Chang promised to look for a fix, so no need to fix it here. The
tests that are expected to break are:

test_codecencodings_cn
test_codecencodings_hk
test_codecencodings_jp
test_codecencodings_kr
test_codecencodings_tw
test_codecs
test_multibytecodec

This merge fixes an actual test failure (test_weakref) in this branch,
though, so I believe merging is the right thing to do anyway.

40d3781416 - Fix segfault with invalid coding.
- SF Bug #772896, unknown encoding results in MemoryError, which is not helpful

I will only backport the segfault fix. I'll let Anthony decide if he wants
the other changes backported. I will do the backport if asked.

35f63a860b Change PyOS_Readline declaration to match the recent change to myreadline.c
(see Patch 512981). I changed stdin to sys_stdin in the body of the
function, but did not change stderr to sys_stdout, though I suspect that may
be the correct course. I don't know the code involved well enough to judge.

7c321a80f9 The Py_REF_DEBUG/COUNT_ALLOCS/Py_TRACE_REFS macro minefield: added
more trivial lexical helper macros so that uses of these guys expand
to nothing at all when they're not enabled. This should help sub-
standard compilers that can't do a good job of optimizing away the
previous "(void)0" expressions.

Py_DECREF: There's only one definition of this now. Yay! That
was that last one in the family defined multiple times in an #ifdef
maze.

Py_FatalError(): Changed the char* signature to const char*.

_Py_NegativeRefcount(): New helper function for the Py_REF_DEBUG
expansion of Py_DECREF. Calling an external function cuts down on
the volume of generated code. The previous inline expansion of abort()
didn't work as intended on Windows (the program often kept going, and
the error msg scrolled off the screen unseen). _Py_NegativeRefcount
calls Py_FatalError instead, which captures our best knowledge of
how to abort effectively across platforms.
