3cf202e957 Ignore .nfs* files in distutils (#7719). 
These files are created by some NFS clients a file is edited and removed
concurrently (see added link in doc for more info).  If such a file is
removed between distutils calls listdir and copy, it will get confused.
Other special files are ignored in sdist (namely VCS directories), but
this has to be filtered out earlier.

8bc0965adf Removed uses of dict.has_key() from distutils, and uses of 
callable() from copy_reg.py, so the interpreter now starts up
without warnings when '-3' is given.  More work like this needs to
be done in the rest of the stdlib.

cd8a1148e1 Make setup.py less chatty by default. 
This is a conservative version of SF patch 504889.  It uses the log
module instead of calling print in various places, and it ignores the
verbose argument passed to many functions and set as an attribute on
some objects.  Instead, it uses the verbosity set on the logger via
the command line.

The log module is now preferred over announce() and warn() methods
that exist only for backwards compatibility.

XXX This checkin changes a lot of modules that have no test suite and
aren't exercised by the Python build process.  It will need
substantial testing.

963cd2d85d Andrew Kuchling: changed so the '_path_created' dictionary is keyed on 
absolute pathnames; this lets it keep working in the face of chdir'ing
around.
