0560843b8f Issue #4705: Fix the -u ("unbuffered binary stdout and stderr") command-line 
flag to work properly. Furthermore, when specifying -u, the text stdout
and stderr streams have line-by-line buffering enabled (the default being
to buffer arbitrary chunks of data). Patch by Victor Stinner, test by me.

6a27efa2d3 Issue 3723: Fixed initialization of subinterpreters 
The patch fixes several issues with Py_NewInterpreter as well as the demo for multiple subinterpreters.
Most of the patch was written by MvL with help from Benjamin, Amaury and me. Graham Dumpleton has verified that this patch fixes an issue with mod_wsgi.

5833a2f6fd Issue #4213: The file system encoding is now normalized by the codec subsystem, for example UTF-8 is turned into utf-8. 
Patch created by Victor and reviewed by me. The change is required for proper initialization of subinterpreters.

4cc0f24857 Rename PyUnicode_AsString -> _PyUnicode_AsString and 
PyUnicode_AsStringAndSize -> _PyUnicode_AsStringAndSize to mark
them for interpreter internal use only.

We'll have to rework these APIs or create new ones for the
purpose of accessing the UTF-8 representation of Unicode objects
for 3.1.

  fix issue3120 - don't truncate handles on 64-bit Windows.

  This is still messy, realistically PC/_subprocess.c should never cast pointers
  to python numbers and back at all.

  I don't have a 64-bit windows build environment because microsoft apparently
  thinks that should cost money.  Time to watch the buildbots.  It builds and
  passes tests on 32-bit windows.

559e5d7f4d #2630: Implement PEP 3138. 
The repr() of a string now contains printable Unicode characters unescaped.
The new ascii() builtin can be used to get a repr() with only ASCII characters in it.

PEP and patch were written by Atsuo Ishimoto.

f1ca0b11b5 Issue 1342: Python could not start if installed in a directory 
with non-ascii characters.

This is the simple fix, which uses the FileSystemEncoding.
Replacing all the char* with unicode strings is a major rewrite,
and needs more thinking.

b2750b5d33 Move the codec decode type checks to bytes/bytearray.decode(). 
Use faster PyUnicode_FromEncodedObject() for bytes/bytearray.decode().

Add new PyCodec_KnownEncoding() API.

Add new PyUnicode_AsDecodedUnicode() and PyUnicode_AsEncodedUnicode() APIs.

Add missing PyUnicode_AsDecodedObject() to unicodeobject.h

Fix punicode codec to also work on memoryviews.
